Two kinds of détente
Asia Times ^

...

A détente with Russia and China that accepts China’s dominance in global high-technology manufacturing and its corresponding rise as a dominant military power would be a surrender in slow-motion. It would mean the end of America’s aspirations, and a British-style decline into strategic irrelevance. But a détente that takes grim inventory of our own failings and buys us time to rebuild our technological edge is another matter.

The idea will not be popular among American politicians who find it easier to denounce Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping than to remedy our weakness at home. But it is the only path between two unacceptable alternatives: A confrontation with Russia and/or China that we might lose, and which might escalate into nuclear war, or descent into national mediocrity.

The scale of the problem is daunting. To return federal R&D funding to the levels of the late 1970s or 1980s relative to GDP, we would have to spend another $200 billion a year. The great corporate laboratories, starting with Bell Labs, no longer exist; they would have to be reconstituted. Only 7% of our college students major in engineering, against 33% in both Russia and China; Russia alone graduates as many engineers each year as the United States. These are labors of Hercules.

But we have the choice of accomplishing them or condemning future generations of Americans to mediocrity. We need inspirational leadership to persuade American taxpayers to fund investment on this scale, like John F. Kennedy in 1962 when he told the nation that we would go to the moon, or Ronald Reagan in 1984 when he proposed to protect America against missile attack.

China’s whole technology economy is based on theft.

We can still denounce and rebuild. Its not a strict either-or. I reject the premise.

If democrats and RINO’s are allowed to continue to steal elections, the USA is going to collapse. When the USA goes down, it is taking the rest of the world down with it. The Chinese economy cannot exist without the USA consumer gobbling up all the low-quality junk that the Chicoms produce. Without the USA, where will China go to get an equivalent $1 trillion a year trade deficit? Also, Europe depends on the USA subsidies, as well as it’s military defense. When the USA collapses, it’s going to kill a third of the worlds population. Russia won’t need nukes to destroy America, the Rats are doing it for them.

He speaks a lot of truths in that article, and quite frankly I think this country is too far gone at this point to stay at #1 indefinitely, or even for much longer. Our kids are dumbed down not to mention our society as a whole, we can’t compete any longer with other nations as we once did.

I think the elites know this and that’s why those crazy neocons want WW3 now, instead of 5 years into the future when China has a nuclear and military force equal to or better than our own. The only thing holding them back is probably the EU’s reluctance to this, and who’s to say we won’t drag them into this one way or the other anyway? And now we are antagonizing China with warships just off their coast and Pelosi going to Taiwan against our own military’s advice. There are definitely those within our government pushing for this.

Step 1: stop issuing H1B visas. Stop importing foreign tech workers to take tech jobs in the US.

Step 2: stop issuing student visas that allow foreign students to take tech slots in our universities.

Fabian Socialists (Euro Socialists, Democrats, WEF) vs Marxist Leninists (Xi in China, Putin in the ‘former’ USSR, ect). Oceanana vs Eurasia and East Asia (1984).
