On the morning of May 3, Abby C. burst into tears when she learned a that leaked draft opinion signaled the U.S. Supreme Court would likely overturn Roe vs. Wade.
Before getting out of bed, the 23-year-old booked a consultation to begin the process of getting sterilized. Abby, who did not want to use her last name for privacy reasons, said her previous gynecologist had dismissed her requests, citing her age. But with the leaked opinion throwing the future of reproductive rights into jeopardy, Abby stood firm in her decision.
“I ended up telling her, this is the option I want,” Abby said. “This is the only answer for me.”
It wasn’t until after she woke up from the procedure — a bilateral salpingectomy, in which her fallopian tubes were removed — that she felt relief.
Following the decision in Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned the once constitutionally protected right to an abortion, young women and others across the country have increasingly requested sterilization, according to obstetrician-gynecologists who have seen an uptick in Arizona, North Carolina, Texas and Florida.

WORKS FOR ME
Her body, her choice.🤔
Go for it, Abby!
No kid would want you for a mother!
Now she have hours of meaningless sex.
And she won’t have to repeatedly kill a living being to do it.
That sounds like a rationalization. A woman without ovaries to provide hormones will have no sex drive, becoming a true "female eunuch" in spite of what Germaine Greer wrote in her feminist book. The cervix can play a large part of sexual stimulation during love making, but is removed in a total hysterectomy.
What wonderful news! Some enterprising clinics need to start advertising fast and easy sterilization on all the TV venues liberals prefer...
Liberals don’t appear to be very good at bringing up kids who grow up to be anything but whining snowflakes who are functionally illiterate in academics-including basic biology-because they have been indoctrinated in public “schools”.
Their offspring are non-productive-unwilling to work at any real job, emotionally unstable and seemingly unable to get along with others-they have tantrums, demand that others ignore reality and give them safe spaces instead. We don’t really need any more offspring of liberal parents-whether they are male, female-or identify as some fictional being-I hope they all decide not to reproduce-let real parents raise kids to become mentally healthy, real humans...
More men are seeking sterilization as well from what I understand. Eighteen years of child support when the ability to establish paternity is close to 100% isn't fun.
“If you’re less than 75, I can guarantee you that one day you will come to rue your decision to sterilize yourself.”
Probably not.
I’ve met women who REALLY, REALLY LOVE kids; so long as they’re OTHER PEOPLES’ kids, who GO HOME after awhile, and leave the good woman’s house in peace., and quiet
Dr. James Dobson wasn’t on the wrong track when he titled one of his books, “Parenting Isn’t For Cowards”; it’s hella hard work, and it can be heartbreaking. All the more so in this deteriorating culture. For every shining Ealge Scout or Annapolis Graduate success story that hits the parental limelight there are a host of unheralded cases where parental hopes were dashed by the harsh reality that kids can — and too often, do — make ABYSMALLY STUPID choices.
I’ve got my church-raised youngest girls (13 & 10) already arguing with me about how many genders there really are; that DNA doesn’t trump this culture’s ever-fluid dictionary. It’s a terrifying prospect to realize the precipitous odds parent’s face trying to help kids navigate deadly waters; worse as the kids age, and parents’ hands are directly on the steering wheel less and less. Dobson was dead-on: parenting isn’t for cowards; it’s for 24/7/365 counter-cultural warriors, and it’s not everyone that’s got the strength or stamina, or the desire to gin it up. This ain’t a “PMA” book, out here; there were happy upbeat people who went down with Titanic. This ain’t “MacGyver”; there’s a high probability that you CAN’T pull off the save with the contents of your kitchen junk drawer. This ain’t Hollywood; the white hats are probably gonna take serious losses.
There is ZERO chance ever that I would condemn ANY woman seeking sterilization in the face of the grave trepidation besetting present-day parents. Parenting isn’t a walk in the park; it’s you working to help your kids escape alive from a light plane crash in the depths of the Amazon jungle, or perhaps from the remote, ice-blasted wastelands of the Northwest Territories, and it’s not Reality TV where there’s a crew out there somewhere standing by to save your bacon if you get into really dire straits.
Since the ovaries remain, she will still produce her monthly egg cells. Without the Fallopian tubes, where will the eggs go? Will the unfertilized eggs just pile up in the ovaries?
You have a factory that produces a product but the route out of the factory is closed, where does the product go?
I guess my mom’s personal anecdotal opinion means nothing? I know she’d disagre with that.
More women are seeking sterilization since Roe vs. Wade was overturned.
Who cares? They don’t want children anyway.
“Since the ovaries remain, she will still produce her monthly egg cells. Without the Fallopian tubes, where will the eggs go? Will the unfertilized eggs just pile up in the ovaries?”
The human body absorbs the tissue products. This is no different than a man getting a vasectomy. They do not remove the testicles for obvious hormonal reasons. Same for the ovaries they are left to continue their much needed hormonal duties. The eggs just like sperm without the tubes from the testicles to the urethra are simply absorbed into the body as dead cells and broken down for excretion. The human body replaces nearly every cell in it about every 7 years. Since the ovaries and the uterus remain this woman could in the future go the IVF route using her own harvested eggs her ovaries will still contain thousands of then well into her 40s and 50s. Get some sperm from a male she is dating or even a bank have the IVF people create a few zygote and implant two or three in her still functional uterus. Bob’s your uncle. It won’t be cheap but IVF has a very good success rate of the person doesn’t have any other medical issues.
