BUFFALO, N.Y. — New legislation regarding bicycle safety will come into effect as Gov. Kathy Hochul takes measures that will require new drivers to learn about pedestrian and bicycle safety when on the road.
This new requirement will be apart of new drivers pre-licensing exam and will be a prerequisite to obtaining any motor vehicle license.
"My top priority as Governor is to keep New Yorkers safe, and it is common sense to make pedestrian and bike safety education mandatory for drivers," Governor Hochul said in a statement. "This law will help prevent crashes and save lives, and I thank my partners in the Assembly and Senate for passing this legislation to make our streets safer."
This new legislation will soon be added to the department of motor vehicles instruction handbook, and it's not the only new driving safety measures being put into play.

Hilarious. None of these illegal aliens we send up there have been to the Safeway School of Driving.
The Bikers need to take that same course.
There should be lessons about not hogging the road from Drivers and staying in the Bike Lane.
Lessons on keeping your cool if a driver does something stupid and/or slightly dangerous. It’s not always a malicious act.

Will they have a safety class for bikers and pedestrians telling the that traffic lights must be obeyed and you can’t cross a road on a red light just because you have momentum and are too lazy or in too much of a hurry to stop? Your moral smugness will not stop that SUV you just got in front of.

F**K! Make the cyclists abide by the rules of the road, as, at least in my area, they do whatever they please in traffic.
I grew up in Rochester, New York in the 50's and 60's. If you had a bike, and you wanted to ride it in the street, you had to pass a safety test, and pay 25 cents for a registration sticker. Bike safety was also taught in grammar schools back then.
