After this weekend, Missourians will have at least a third choice in this year’s U.S. Senate race.
John Wood, an attorney who held key roles in the George W. Bush administration but is running as an independent, said this weekend his campaign gathered 10,000 petition signatures.
That’s the number of signatures a campaign needs before Aug. 1 to appear on the ballot.
“Our goal is to double the minimum requirement to ensure that Missouri voters will have the common sense, independent choice on their ballot that they deserve on Election Day,” Wood said in a statement.

None of the Democrat candidates are running as wild-eyed radicals. If Grietens is the GOP candidate then there is a chance, a slim chance but still a real chance, that Wood could take enough votes to hand the seat to the Democrats. This doesn't help.
He's a RINO, no doubt about it. But take enough of the RINO vote away from someone like Greitens and you could hand the seat to the Democrats.
Don't discount it. Do that and it can come back to bite the GOP. This is a well funded candidate who could take votes away from the wrong nominee. Treat it as the threat it is and work to combat it.
This candidate is in the race to stop either Schmitt, Greitens, or Hartzler from winning this seat. Democrats don’t want any of those three.

And probably that’s exactly why he’s running. I will presume he’s a democrat plant unless or until persuaded otherwise. The dems have a long track record of this sort of thing.
Of course he is. There's no chance of him winning. He's there to keep the Republican from winning, and depending on who the nominee is he could well do it.
He's not a Democrat plant. He's an anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, RINO plant out to split the GOP. The fact that in doing so he helps the Democrats doesn't mean they planned it.
