The U.S. House Judiciary Committee will take up proposed legislation next week that would ban certain assault weapons, the panel said on Friday, citing a string of recent mass shootings across the United States.

The committee will meet on Wednesday to mark up the bill, which "would ban the sale, import, manufacture or transfer of certain semi-automatic weapons," it said in a statement.

A spate of gun massacres since May at a New York grocery store, a Texas elementary school and an Illinois Independence Day parade have renewed fierce U.S. debate over gun regulations.

Absolutely. I have a copy of Michael Barone’s 1998 (I believe) “Almanac of American Politics” that says semi-autos are banned in Oregon. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

As per the recent Bruen decision at the Supreme Court, this law is blatantly unconstitutional.

I think that's the upshot of the reverse and remand of the Maryland AWB upheld by the lower court. An AWB won't pass the common use test of Heller and the history and tradition test of Bruen.

They also reversed and remanded a magazine ban case as well. I would argue the NFA's ban on suppressors and short-barreled rifles and shotguns will also go.

The last assault weapons ban expired after ten years. Democrats are determined this time to pass one that won’t include an expiration.

Unconstitutional doesn’t even slow them down. They know that it will probably get tossed, but:
1. It will cost pro gun organization’s lots of $$ and time to get it tossed
2. It will give the govts JBTs an opportunity to arrest and even kill patriots and
3. There is NO downside to them for passing crap like this.

Too bad there isn’t some penalty that can be brought to bear on there jackasses. I think the framers didn’t anticipate the depths of evil that the Democrats have reached today.

I don’t care if you are the biggest, baddest SWAT team member in existence, I would NOT want to be you if you are sent to enforce a law requiring the removal of lawful citizen’s guns. Sooner or later, you will be met with overwhelming force and it will not be pretty. Citizens are tired of this mess and won’t take it lying down... or kneeling as the case may be.

The DemonRat socialists end goal is to eliminate private possession of semi-auto rifles, if not the outright repeal of the 2nd Amendment. The interim step to this end would be the establishment of a national firearm registry using ATF Form 4473 records to identify who owns what weapons, i.e., you cannot tax, "buy back", regulate, or confiscate the guns if you don't know who has them. Government would then mandate that citizens in possession of semi-auto rifles (or even all firearms) that don't have current ATF 4473 records must proceed to FFL dealers and register/ apply for new ones. Another scenario could be patterned upon the nationwide example of the states and local municipalities delivering COVID-19 tests and vaccinations in 2021, i.e., establish temporary local depots which can be safely secured where citizens make appointments by phone/ internet in advance to come by with their firearms and register them. Such a scenario could be adapted to include cameras to capture images of the citizens and their vehicle license plates which could then be digitized/ profiled with facial recognition software and also entered into the registry (might be redundant given how drivers’ licenses and other photo ID records can be easily accessed by LEOs over the internet). County courthouses or local satellite tax/ license bureaus would probably be overwhelmed and determined to be insecure in the event of a violent outburst. Of course that could work to the DemonRats advantage. A big information void exists of those firearms which have already been legally transferred in private transactions since the creation of their original ATF 4473 records (going back as far as 1968), i.e., there is no record of who currently owns these firearms. As happened in NY & CT in 2013, it would not be surprising if the majority of such firearm owners quietly refuse to comply. But in the DemonRat socialist mindset, any identification leading to partial confiscation is better than none at all. Hence those cities/ states that require FOID owner permits already have directories of firearm owners. Of course, the state could pass a law which holds citizens who use unregistered firearms in acts of self-defense liable to prosecution. The probability of positive identifications would be expected to be high on ATF 4473 records that are <10 years old. And there has been a huge, continuous buying surge on semi-auto rifle sales since POTUS #44 BHO was elected in NOV 2008. One could imagine a "1984" scenario where "Big Brother" would implement a reward system for informers to report on their neighbors (e.g., East German Ministry for State Security, “Stasi”). Another scenario would involve more tightly controlling the sale of ammunition, e.g., limits on amounts that can be bought during a defined time and possibly a NICS, which could indirectly point to citizens who might own "assault-style" semi-auto rifles, e.g., .223 cal./5.56 mm, 9 mm, and .308 cal./ 7.62 mm.

In this new age of state surveillance and cancel culture, a list of probable firearm owners, who do not have current ATF Form 4473s, could be easily generated, e.g., utilize the USPS’s Informed Delivery system (launched in 2018) which takes digital images of every piece of mail. Every member of the NRA, GoA, etc., who receive snail mail from these organizations would be immediately identified. We are also told that the USPS has been clandestinely monitoring the internet for home-grown right-wing white- supremacist domestic terrorists. One can easily envision how these 2 groups will be targeted by the new surveillance state with its Intelligence Community Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center near Bluffdale, UT. A first approach could be to re-start the social credit system of Operation Choke Point (first implemented by POTUS #44 BHO’s DoJ in 2013 and ended in 2017 by POTUS #45 DJT) by which financial pressure could be applied against credit card holders and loan applicants who appear on these gun owner lists.

The great unknown at the moment is how far has the ATF’s National Tracing Center gone in developing a national firearm registry for its purpose of tracing firearms used in crimes. It is known that ATF Form 4473s older than 20 years have been collected and digitized and stored by ATF. It wouldn’t take much to undermine the current FFL/ NICS/ ATF Form 4473 process to collect the most recent Form 4473 data since everything is digitized today. It just takes the will to break the law (FOPA 1986) that prohibits a national firearm registry. Given the tremendous effort the DemonRat Party put forth in undermining POTUS #45 DJT by pursuing 2 impeachment votes, it would not be surprising that the ATF has already gone down this path. The DemonRat Party fears an open rebellion by conservative Americans against their 1-world government goals.

A nightmare scenario would be to weaponize the IRS to levy financial penalties (freeze bank accounts, Social Security distributions, Medicare/ Medicaid benefits, tax refunds, VA benefits, military pensions, government pensions, college loans, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans, even seizure of automobiles and homes, etc.), on those determined/ suspected to be in non-compliance with registration. Few could withstand that level of financial pressure. The DoJ could establish a “drop-dead” date for citizens to register or surrender their firearms at secure local registration depots. After the deadline passes, the DoJ would coordinate with the DoTre to weaponize the IRS. In a nation without the rule of law one could envision the state putting the burden of proof of non-ownership on the citizen. "I lost my gun in a boating accident" would not be acceptable and could put you in line for a lie detector test. Failure/ inconclusive result of the test could put you on a list for an extended stay at a “re-education camp” in the new DemonRat gulag. LEOs (law enforcement officers) would not have to endure the high risk of executing "no knock" searches/ confiscations. Of course, the state could still order such raids on high profile citizens suspected of non-compliance to make examples of them to intimidate the sheeple – especially giving priority to targeting recalcitrant owners of semi-auto rifles. This approach could include the use of drones (unarmed surveillance and armed) in the fashion that POTUS #46 JRB is advocating for suppression of home-grown right-wing white-supremacist domestic terrorists. It is not too far-fetched to imagine the DemonRat socialists doxxing these private citizens and making that information available to BLM and AntiFa so they could administer rough/ street justice.

I understand and absolutely agree with each and every point you made in your post. There are many ways that they can try to go about the denial of our 2nd Amendment rights.

That said, I truly believe that this will not turn out the way they believe it will. If any of the procedures or methods you listed are implemented, I believe that there will be push-back of a kind their tiny minds cannot fathom or, at least, cannot admit to themselves might be possible.

I may be wrong, but I stand by my belief that it would be unfortunate for them to push forward with this effort to disarm law-abiding Americans.
