Surprise, surprise:

"Starbucks said it would permanently close six stores each in the Seattle and Los Angeles areas, two in Portland, Ore., and single locations in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. by the end of the month."

I was recently near a brand-new Starbucks - that was drive-thru only. There was also a walk-up window - but no indoor area or outdoor seating.

I suspect this will be Starbucks new business model.

Ends the homeless hanging out all day in Starbucks - and the “racist” bathroom issue as well:

“The men were waiting for someone at the Philadelphia Starbucks store and had not purchased anything before the arrest. Police officials said they were not allowed to use the restroom because they did not buy anything, and a store manager called Philadelphia police after the men refused to leave.”

When I lived in Seattle There was a McDonalds downtown only open 10am to 4pm. Too many homeless and addicts making it too much of a pain in the azz to stay open outside of those hours.

There’s a new Dunkin Donuts like that in East Chicago, Indiana. Probably for the same reasons.

Many stores have a “customers only” policy for their restrooms, and many of these restrooms now require a code that you must get from an employee.

My students who lived in a sketchy part of town (was once nice) told me that any businesses left in the area now close up at 4 PM - before the sun sets.

About 20 years ago I went to a McDonald’s in downtown Seattle during lunch hour, and there was a man passed-out on the floor, clutching a hamburger, just inside the front door. Finally, some medics showed up to deal with him.

Perhaps Starbucks should consider severing their ties to the Democratic party and all its ideals. Can be very detrimental to any business model and profit margins.

Closing ‘a few’ won’t change anything. Good business decision.

The mayors of those cities are members of which party? Which cities are "sanctuary cities"? Which cities want to defund the police? Which city has a DA who says it's okay to steal, as long as it's less than $1000? You don't suppose there's any kind of statistical correlation there, do you?

I guess they are tired of replacing glass windows and will just keep the boards up. But where will the homeless use a restroom now? Every Democrat city will be San Francisco now.

I suspect this will be Starbucks new business model.

It's business model lots of other fast food places are following. Wendy's, McDonalds, etc. They redesigned their interiors so it's harder for groups (especially groups of "Youths") to hang out.

The public is getting nastier and nastier in any public venue. From restraunts to retail and all in between. Even Hospitals are having difficulties with family members of patients.
