Despite Biden pleas to make midterms referendum on abortion, issue not a top concern in polls

President Joe Biden is calling on Americans to vote for Democrats in response to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, but polling shows abortion is not a top concern for the American electorate.

"We need two additional pro-choice senators and a pro-choice House to codify Roe as federal law," Biden said on Friday when signing an executive order related to expanding abortion access. "Your vote can make that a reality. For God's sakes, there's an election in November. Vote, vote, vote."

A Monmouth University poll released Tuesday asked respondents to identify the biggest concern facing their family right now. In total, 66% cited inflation, gas prices, unemployment, economy and paying everyday bills. Abortion came in as a top concern for just 5%.

An Associated Press-NORC poll released Friday found that most Americans view economic issues as their top concern.

"Forty percent of U.S. adults specifically name inflation in an open-ended question as one of up to five priorities for the government to work on in the next year, according to a June poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research," read an AP summary of the poll's findings. "That's a sharp rise from 14% in December and less than 1% the year prior. In all, 77% mention the economy in any way, up from 68% in December."

Pollster Scott Rasmussen told Just the News that "the top 3 issues are still inflation, inflation, and inflation."

Inflation is currently at a 40-year high, and gas prices are averaging close to $5 a gallon nationally.

Biden's approval rating has dropped to a new low of 36%.

Abortion has always been a stable factor, anyone who cares has already made up their mind.. Those who don’t care, don’t care. So no, the Court decision will not change many votes, if any.

If we had one republican with balls they would run an ad charting inflation rates during democrat presidential reigns. But then, we don’t have anyone like that. The millstones of taxation and inflation are one of their key strategies also.
Despite his best efforts, or at least I hope so, Trump got the lame duck Reagan fever.
However, he is responsible for allowing masking, travel restrictions and bumpstock bans.

In the past 50 years there is never a good economy when democrats are in power with one exception: Bill Clinton. However in 1994 the GOP and their "Contract with America" (back when they GOP actually had issues they took a stand on) took the house and totally clipped Clinton's wings on economic issues. He pretty much gave up at that point trying to do harmful things like socialized medicine and just settled in on getting rich in any way possible. So while he's the exception that people still remember when thinking dems can be good on the economy he really isn't a true example.

Take Clinton away and you are left with Carter, Obama, and Biden. Stagflation, stagnation, and return to stagflation.

“Abortion has always been a stable factor, anyone who cares has already made up their mind.”

indeed ... as is the case with most ideological views ... which pretty much leaves pocketbook issues, which are non-ideological and affect nearly everyone ... and right now, dementia joe and the democrats are in deep doo-doo on said pocketbook issues ...
