Robert Crimo’s dad was ‘right’ to help him get guns: uncle
New York Post ^ | July 8, 2022 | Lee Brown

The uncle of confessed Highland Park mass shooter Robert Crimo III insisted Friday that his brother “did the right thing” when he helped his son buy guns — while conceding that he would not have done so himself.

“I support him 100% — I think he did the right thing,” Paul Crimo told CNN of his brother, the gunman’s dad, Robert Crimo Jr.

The uncle admitted that he was “sure” that his brother “knew about” his son having been investigated for threatening to “kill everyone” in 2019, just two months before he backed the shooter’s successful bid to start buying guns while he was still just 19.

I used to work near Highland Park and had encounters with people such as this, and always wondered how selfish, amoral idiots managed to get enough money to live in such as place.

......if my son had said “I Want to kill everybody”, and I deemed him having even 1% sincerity about the statement, I would NEVER have bought him a gun. If my son even looked like this creep, I would never have bought him a gun.

My son has guns but we keep them locked up in my safe because he has kids at home and his wife doesn’t want them in the house.

I’m not understanding the Illinois gun law. To get a license to puchase one has to have parental consent between 18 and 21 yrs old?

Not sticking up for the dad just trying to understand the process.

The dad and mom, especially the mom, appear to be nut cases themselves.

And look! He got a headline! What a triumph.

This family reminds me of the rule in Classical Greece that an assassins next of kin all had to be executed, along with him. Maybe there is some virtue in this approach ...

Agreed.

How did the conservation go between father and son?

Dad - “Ok, son, if you will stop saying you want to kill everyone, I’ll help you buy a long gun”

Son - “Okay, dad”

The alleged murderer is I believe now 22 years of age and could have acquired the guns the week before the alleged attack.

Bay for the father’s prosecution and you will rue the day you can’t get a single person to vouch for your gun purchase.

https://www.uslegalforms.com/form-library/148638-foid-card-application-form

The FOID rules have been changed a number of times. I believe that is the relevant form, but I can’t be sure.

The parent is not required to affirm the questions the child was asked were answered truthfully.

If I ever had a don that looked like him, he would be out of the house and under a restraining order.

I’m a strident gun rights person.

If a family member has known legitimate issues, they have
mental problems, have had to obtain mental health care,
and particularly if they get wound up and very angry
threatening to use one, there’s no way in hell I’d stand
by and watch them obtain guns.

I’d have concerns for the family, as well as anyone else.

I don’t buy into the red flag laws, because I see them being
abused constantly.

What is a legitimate way to keep a gun out of the hands of
a known psycho though?
