I’m a strident gun rights person.

If a family member has known legitimate issues, they have
mental problems, have had to obtain mental health care,
and particularly if they get wound up and very angry
threatening to use one, there’s no way in hell I’d stand
by and watch them obtain guns.

I’d have concerns for the family, as well as anyone else.

I don’t buy into the red flag laws, because I see them being
abused constantly.

What is a legitimate way to keep a gun out of the hands of
a known psycho though?

Cain slew Abel. Was he a psycho? Perhaps.

A good start is to recognize that there are probably a million or more people in our nation today who are just as dysfunctional as this killer. Unless your solution affects all of them, there is little hope that it will eliminate this problem.

The conservative approach would be to make substantial changes to education, discipline, and accountability to dramatically reduce this dysfunctional population.
