I see the problem with likely voters as many who voted Democrat are no longer likely. They will decide “Why Bother?” and just not turn out

It’s fun and interesting to see his numbers collapse like this, but if he were facing reelection against any R today he’d still get minimum 43% popular vote share I’d say.
The 30% are just Marxist robots who’ll approve of any D in any poll, but there’s probably 12-18% more automatic D votes registering their disapproval so that he foregoes reelection and a less politically damaged candidate gets the nomination.
The latter is the recent sentiment of the media class that you may have noticed. They are preparing for the full court press after November. Even if D’s outperform their horrible expectations, they can’t allow an incumbent polling that low to roll the dice on reelection.
