Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid have resigned from government saying they no longer have confidence in Boris Johnson to lead the country.
Mr Sunak said the public expected government to be conducted "properly, competently and seriously".
Mr Javid echoed this in his resignation letter, saying the government was not "acting in the national interest".
The resignations came minutes after PM sought to draw a line under a row about MP Chris Pincher, who is facing sexual misconduct allegations.
Mr Johnson admitted he had made a "bad mistake" in appointing Mr Pincher to the role of deputy chief whip earlier this year, despite being told about earlier allegations about the MP's conduct.
His handling of the row has come in for fierce criticism from the opposition and some of his own MPs.

Johnson has been a disaster. He’s Biden with floppy hair.

Boris has been a major disappointment. Unfortunately most the rest are even worse.

Yeah, well a Brit Conservative is indistinguishable from the average Democrat in the USA.

Sunak? Javid?
So is the Tory party now being run by Romulans or Klingons?
To: RandFan
He always reminded me of a plump, English Gary Busey.

No loss. They can go back where they came from, and Boris can fill the posts with real Britons.

Definitely. I noticed a real change in him after Covid.

If Big Bird went to Eton and Oxford, he would be Boris Johnson.
But maybe there's nobody in British politics who's better than BoJo.
He could conceivably be his country's best PM since Thatcher (who could be their best PM since Churchill).
I don't know if BoJo really has changed -- his big thing was Brexit, and now that Brexit's done, he falls into the usual pattern for Prime Ministers -- but if he's changed it may be due to taking a new, much younger eco woke second or third wife, rather than to COVID.

They can go back where they came from Southampton, Hampshire and Rochdale, Lancashire.

I don’t follow Johnson much, and this Pincher guy isn’t
someone I know at all.
I remember when some of our folks are charged with all
manner of evils, when they are nominated for a position.
That may be what Johnson was thinking, when he appointed
this guy. “The opposition hates him, so they’ll say
anything to block him.”
So is that what was going on, and then at some point it
became known that Pincher WAS a lout?
