ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Starting July 1, people who live in the Town of Perinton will have to pay for their recycling to be picked up.
For years, as part of a deal with the landfill in their backyard, residents were able to get their recycling picked up for free by Waste Management weekly but that deal was recently renegotiated and not everyone is happy about it.
Recently, the Town of Perinton entered into a new host agreement with Waste Management.

If it can’t fit in your garbage can, you’re using too much plastic.
The people In Cape Cod....CAPE COD.....VERY WEALTHY PLACE.....have to take their GARBAGE to THE DUMP.....and SEPARATE their Recycles, and Glass by COLOR!! At least it was this way 5 years ago!!!
Do they still just ship all the trash to China?
I think the Germans discovered that already in the mid-1990s.

China used to take American and European trash to recycle. They’d recycle some, but just dump most. According to this article, China no longer accepts foreign trash.
Recycling for the most part is a leftist masterbation exercise.
Our area is upset that every thing bis heading for the burner however carting garbage around the country side requires low fuel costs.
I recycle...nothing.
At the industrial level, some recycling makes sense. At the curbside level, none of it financially viable.
Do they still just ship all the trash to China?
It got too expensive for China to “process” it so they told the U.S. to dump their own trash in the ocean.
A lot of people just need to think they’re ‘doing something’. Penn and Teller had a BS episode where they told people to break down recycling into 2 piles, then 3, then on and on until it was like 10 different bins. They even told them it’s ending in the same place (landfill). Most, if not all, said they’d still do the extra sorting anyway.
Locally, citizens are chastised for putting contaminated recyclables into the bins. Examples provided are greasy cardboard pizza boxes and unclean jars, cans and bottles. My brain says it is silly to waste (and pay the utility bill for) the water used to clean the recyclable jars, jugs and bottles.
Maybe it’s “free”? The wealthy I have known will work like dogs for “free”.
It all goes right in the black garbage bag. Even the Nickle apiece soda cans. My time is wort more than that.
Most people in my neck of the woods are too stupid and lazy to separate their trash anyway. If I lived up there I would not even bother unless I were paid for the trouble of recycling. Not that jackboots aren’t on the horizon, e.g. $50 fine for every recyclable item found mixed into your trash.
The people in Perinton ought to take their garbage and recycling to Alpco. I live in a community close to Perinton and take mine there for years.
You get the garbage you vote for.
Most places have had to try to recycle all the plastic recycle bins they made and passed out because recycling costs money...
Ragpicker nation.
