U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel on Tuesday sentenced the former president of a local postal workers union to five years of probation and six months of house arrest for embezzling $80,000.
Scott E. Rodgers, 51, was also ordered to repay the money.
Rodgers embezzled a total of $80,756. From 2016, when he became president of Postal Mail Handlers Local 314, to April 2020, Rodgers made four unauthorized ATM withdrawals from the union account and used the union debit card for personal purchases including meals, fuel, transportation, shopping, and travel. . . . . .
The union’s former treasurer, Yvette Luster, was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison for embezzling over $184,000.

Six months house arrest for a Democrat. That’s what justice is in America today.
My thought exactly.
Well you stole your brother’s money, all of them. Now you’re free to live where they know you’re at. Be careful out there
Azzhole.

I known and known of a couple of embezzlers.
One worked for a company and stole several hundred thousand dollars. But she did it over decades. A little here and a little there. Enough to buy a new chair for her living room. She got away with it for a very long time because she was trusted and she wasn’t greedy. When caught, she was fired, of course and had to repay what she stole to keep out of jail.
Another was involved in the athletic department of a local university. He was caught and promptly fired. Turned out he had done the same thing at the university he worked at before. I guess no one checked his history. He later was arrested for embezzling from a charity. Three jobs, caught embezzling at all three. Must have been a very smooth talker, but not as good at stealing as he thought. I think he did time for his last crime.
Whew, sure am glad he didn’t have to do hard time... /s
Is there no trust that that people can break these days that
gets them some serious time behind bars?
I mean why not take the funds?

Arkancide?
Possibly, I was IBEW in MO in the 70’s. We were easily irritated when our supposed leaders screwed us. The MO river is muddy, warm, and a place to plant something you don’t want forensic crap attached to. He’s loose. And I’d be pissed. Just saying.
Indeed.
Decades ago my mother belonged to a union. Every month they mailed her a union newsletter in which her union representative had his own column. He rarely used his column to talk about union/job issues that I can recall.
Instead, being far left, he used his newsletter column to rail for and against certain political issues which had nothing to do with union issues nor concerned his job as a union rep. For abortion, for gun control, for more restrictive government regulations, for taxing the rich, etc.
I can’t recall the exact details since its been so long, but he was eventually busted for something that had to do with union funds. Either embezzlement, or mishandling, or misusing union funds. I do recall his column finally coming to an end in the union newsletter when he was busted.

Embezzlement...
Where’s the problem?
This is just the natural order of things...
They don’t get to do that?
