The nom is Trump’s for the taking if he wants it. And he’s obviously out on the campaign trail this summer, so the smart money bet is that he’ll run.
Probably the only thing that could hold him back is some sort of health issue, given that he’ll be 78. But there’s no indication that he’s slowing down at all, so that seems unlikely.
DeSantis is a great insurance policy, though we don’t know much about his ideas on foreign policy. Trump’s track record of avoiding wars of choice to support the Global Elite’s agenda is going to be important in his second term.
Things can change between now and then but you already know that.

Desantis is my Governor. I am very glad he is. However, to think he has the nationwide recognition and approval by the base of President Trump is simply delusional Never Trumpism.
Run and win, and this time clear out the deep state with sheer abandon, no more mistakes with stupid hires. Freeze federal spending, reform or abolish the FBI. Cut all federal alphabet agencies by 50% and set them on track to be abolished. Abolish baseline budgeting. That will be a good start, and don’t forget to finish the wall.
