A 2024 Republican presidential primary poll shows former President Donald J. Trump holding a colossal 40-point lead over the rest of the potential field if he decides to run.
The Harvard CAPS-Harris poll, obtained by the Hill, reveals that Trump drew 56 percent of respondents’ support, while 16 percent chose Gov. Ron Desantis (R-FL), making him the second leading candidate. Former Vice President Mike Pence garnered seven percent of the response if Trump were to run.
Trump has repeatedly teased and hinted at a 2024 bid since December 2020, including at CPAC earlier this year and a Georgia rally in March. He more recently told the New Yorker he is “very close to making a decision.”

Trump is the only person who can bring America back from the brink of total destruction. He’s smart and fearless. DeSantis and a few others are good but, no one can match The Donald for kicking ass and getting things done.

It’s entirely possible DeSantis will make a VP deal and sit this one out.

The nom is Trump’s for the taking if he wants it. And he’s obviously out on the campaign trail this summer, so the smart money bet is that he’ll run.
Probably the only thing that could hold him back is some sort of health issue, given that he’ll be 78. But there’s no indication that he’s slowing down at all, so that seems unlikely.
DeSantis is a great insurance policy, though we don’t know much about his ideas on foreign policy. Trump’s track record of avoiding wars of choice to support the Global Elite’s agenda is going to be important in his second term.
Trump is a good example of the effects of not drinking and working hard.
Things can change between now and then but you already know that.
