Paris (AFP) – The world is still not using one of its most effective weapons against Covid -- properly ventilating public spaces -- more than two years into the pandemic, experts warn.
At the moment there is a "fragile, armed peace" with Covid-19, said Antoine Flahault, director of the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva.
"In the hopes of stemming the tide of the pandemic and reducing mortality, we need to reduce the level of contamination, which the vaccine cannot do alone," he told AFP.
"We need a new phase -- improving the quality of indoor air."
We know one thing for sure: if you open a window, or well-ventilate a space, the virus-carrying aerosols dissipate like smoke.
But experts say that nowhere near enough is being done to ventilate public and private spaces across the world.
"On the whole, this is an issue that governments have not yet taken up," Flahault said.
Only a few countries have announced ventilation plans since the start of the pandemic.
In March the US government called on all building owners and operators, as well as schools and universities, to "adopt key strategies to improve indoor air quality".
The plan, dubbed the Clean Air in Buildings Challenge, is covered by previously announced Covid funding and also includes a review of existing ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems.

Which the vaccine cannot do at all. It was never designed to have any effect in killing or stopping the virus. It was designed to make you feel better when, and if, you get the virus. It is a pain killer inside the body like tylenol and your body takes care of the virus. If you didn’t get the virus, it didn’t accomplish anything. The lie just keeps coming and they keep selling it. And the idiot public keeps buying into it.

Instead, they stuck kids outdoors in 40 degree weather to eat lunch.
We were lucky in the winter if the temperature in the one room school I attended got up to 40 degrees by noon.

The sheet metal workers' union is probably behind this.
When the NH senate was considering a bill to ban smoking in the workplace, the sheet metal workers' union was the most vocerifous against it, saying instead that more venthillation should be mandated.
Someone, I don’t remember who at the moment, did a ventilation study showing that all those plastic shields at grocery store checkout, and at the bank, and in other similar places, actually help trap aerosols in the vicinity of the people working there and prevent them from blowing away.
Of course, it’s a “study” so who the hell knows.
Exchanging air in climates not comfortable to humans requires a lot of energy to bring the temperature of the new air to a comfortable level. (Heating or cooling)
The lefts war on energy is making this an impossible task.

While he is at it, he might as well solve climate change. After all, it only requires government money of which there is an endless supply.

Covid? Still? Maybe it’s just the south, but we are living as normal. There is the occasional masked moron, but by and large, nothing. We have big cities, too, so it isn’t that.
