The sanctions may not have an immediate impact, but can hurt Russia in the long-term.
It's unclear what effect the sanctions will have on Putin's desire for war in Ukraine.
Putin is also dying, so there really isn’t anything to keep him from waging a war.
NATO sanctions on Russia probably hurt NATO countries more.
If NPR has to clarify if the sanctions are working the answer is NO.
“..NATO sanctions on Russia probably hurt NATO countries more...”
The Russian sanctions have been disastrous for the US.
No, did not read the article. Why? NPR has no reason to publish truth as long as their funding comes out of our pocket. Nonsense.
The official economic report from the Russian government would beg to differ...

For me, the two significant points made:
1. “So, are sanctions working?
It depends on the criteria,” Russian political scientist Ilya Matveev said. “If the goal is a quick and complete collapse of the Russian economy, then no, sanctions are not working because the Russian economy is still functioning. But if the goal is to weaken Russia economically over time, then sanctions are 100% working.”
2. “While Russia may have the reserves and revenue to fund its military, it may not be able to arm it as easily if sanctions continue, according to Alexeev.
“Where there is a very significant limitation, is what kind of armaments for weapons and munitions they can actually make,” he said.
Restrictions on imports of spare parts and high-tech goods mean the Russian military “basically cannot make a lot of stuff that they would need if the war becomes prolonged. They have very limited ability to make tanks, missiles...and fighter jets.”
We had similar sanctions on the USSR from 1950 through 1990. They will figure it out. And Russia has access to tech amd spare parts through China and India. Finally, we don’t have as severe of sanctions on Kazakhstan (we do have significant sanctions on Kazakhstan for other reasons), so some things get to Russia from them as well, besides being a transit route from China.
NPR totally ignored the new BRIC trading bloc. Russia has been able to sell and mostly import whatever it needs.
McCain was right about one thing when he said “Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country”. Oil and gas pays for every one of Putin’s wars and now that Biden has driven oil to record high prices, do you think Russia is hurting, or reaping a windfall?
That is the key thing to understand, not sanctions.
NPR...Spit.
While we are forced to pay $5 a gallon and likely more for gasoline, seeing our economy wrecked, paying at least 17% for food, seeing the cost of everything petroleum related rise through the roof... and more.....
Russia is shipping natural gas through Ukraine. That is right. Gazprom made a deal with Zelensky to ship gas through Ukraine right now.
Russia is also shipping oil to China and India and making a killing on it.
Biden has declared war on US to enforce the liberal world agenda.
It is time we declared war on him.
True, they just redirected the exports. The US and EU are being run by imbecile children.
NPR: “we lie even if the truth sounds better”. /s (maybe)
“NPR: “we lie even if the truth sounds better”. /s (maybe)”
That’s about it.
The truth to the Left is whatever they want the truth to be.
It is metaphysically impossible to bankrupt a country which has the most natural resources in the world. There will always be buyers for oil. China & India are bigger than all of Europe and USA in population and their economies are growing faster. Those 2 countries alone can buy anything Russia wants to sell in form of oil, coal, iron, aluminum, you name it.
RE: Putin is also dying, so there really isn’t anything to keep him from waging a war
I’ve this rumor so many times since as far back as March this year. Where’s the decisive proof of this other than a few pictures?
