A new University of Chicago poll found that over a quarter of a deeply alienated American public, particularly those who identify as Republican, believe that it may “soon be necessary to take up arms” against the government,
The poll, a collaboration between Republican and Democratic pollsters Neil Newhouse and Joel Benenson, respectively, surveyed 1,000 registered voters around the U.S.. A slight majority of those, 56%, said they believed the government was corrupt and “rigged against everyday people like me,” with self-identified Republicans polling substantially higher on that question than Democrats.
In total, 28% of voters agreed with the statement “it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government.” That skewed heavily toward Republicans, with one in three Republicans and 45% of self-identified “strong Republicans” agreeing with the statement. The GOP doesn’t hold a monopoly on the sentiment, though – one in five Democrats agreed, as did 35% of self-identified independent voters.
The belief in armed resistance was loosely correlated with actual gun ownership. About 37% of those who said they had guns in their homes also agreed with the “taking up arms” statement.
“These really are stunning results, that really go to the depth of the nation’s partisan divide and the extent to which Americans really don’t trust the media to provide unbiased information,” Newhouse said in an interview. “The bottom line is, it’s worse out there than we thought.”
Newhouse also pointed to the impact of political divides on Americans’ personal lives.

I am one that also believes it IS about that time. In my humble opinion the mid-terms just may be the catalyst if they get tampered with.
Taking up arms against the government is actually unlikely. The test will come when the government decides to take up arms against us. That was true in 1775 and it’s true now.

What a garbage poll
I have, for years, endeavored to convince mouthy Progs that they really don’t want to speak at me. And that includes family etc...
I do not know who you are and I wouldn’t recognize you if I tried, but you are absolutely correct...the Clintons, Bidens, and many, many people with plenty of money who need to be in prison should be there now. There may be some people from some countries who will supply us with missiles...I just haven’t heard their remarks yet...I rather doubt it but on the other hand if many people know many of our our ‘leaders’ cheat, steal, lie, and do not associate generally with people who do not do that, we may not be so very alone.
It may be time to begin the discussion and figure out how to do it efficiently and with minimum losses.
Our current elected politicians and government officials will use such a poll to take away more of our freedoms. All in order to keep us safe, of course. And, federal judges will nod their heads and issue opinions stating that any restrictions on our rights is to preserve the “democracy” of our nation.

Look at our financial situation. Sell everything every person, corporation, non-profit, small business, local, state and federal government owns. Everything, down to your underwear.
Then realize we still owe $66 trillion after everything is sold.
We won’t have an armed rebellion. You need three things to fight a war: Money, money and money, as per Napoleon.
My bet is it will just fall apart some day, just like the USSR. Like they were, we are broke.

Based on our fiscal and monetary policies, I find it difficult to disagree. I read long ago that Lenin told Armand Hammer that America was of no concern due to the fact that it would eventually spend itself to death.
