The Navy is canceling early separation programs and encouraging delayed separation as it aims to retain more sailors, especially in sea billets.
The Navy announced the cancellation of enlisted early out programs, as well as waivers for new time-in-grade requirement, in NAVADMIN 142/22, released on June 22.
Under the policy, service commitments, which include enlistment contracts and permanent changes of station, will be fulfilled. Anyone who has trouble completing their service requirements should work with their chain of command and/or detailers to figure out alternatives.
Those seeking commissions are still encouraged to do so, with those requests considered on a case-by-case basis.

However, the reasoning behind the NAVADMIN changed between the copy on the Navy’s website and a draft accidentally posted. The original text, first reported by Military.com, had the reasoning for the NAVADMIN as concerns about the recruiting environment and sailor losses due to COVID-19 vaccine separations.
“As the Navy shifts into an environment of sustainment, retention of every capable Sailor will be critical to the operation readiness of the Navy,” according to the draft. “Due to the uncertainty regarding COVID-19 Pandemic vaccination losses and the recruiting environment, where competition for talent is especially tough, the Navy is opening the aperture for additional [force management] personal policy levers to retain Sailors.”

Didn’t the Navy force a lot of people to get the shot or get dishonorably discharged? I don’t know how many chose to take the discharge. Probably quite a few, just to get away from the decision makers.

The Pentagon screwed members of all the services with the Covid mandates and now they’re having to deal with people leaving.
All of the services are not meeting recruitment needs.
American patriots don’t want to join a military that hates them. Conservatives don’t want to join a military that hates them. Straight men don’t want to join a military that hates them.
Nobody except Victor Davis Hanson ever points out that it is young, white, conservative, patriotic men who disproportionately die in our military.

Perhaps if they would not allow gays, not force fake “pronouns” on sailors, they might get enough people enlisting.
Assuming there will be a Republic long enough for a nondemocrat politician to reach the Presidency, there has to be a drastic rethinking of what the American military should look like to be ready for the future because there has already been a drastic reshaping of what the American military currently is.
The covid shot madness had a noticeable first order effect in punishing troops who had real moral objections to the shot, but it also had second order effects of scaring off many more civilians who would otherwise consider the military. Refuse a shot for a sickness that nearly nobody of military age and fitness would be hospitalized for and get threatened with a felony? (a dishonorable discharge is equivalent to a felony conviction) why in Heaven’s name would one ever sign on to a system that insane?

Endless wars, over deployments and when sailors are in their home port they get bombarded with woke BS. Austin and the joint chiefs are woke pieces of schiff. When Trump is re-elected for the 3rd time, there needs to be a housecleaning.
If this had happened to me when I was leaving active duty in 1981, I’m pretty sure my wife would have left both me and the Army behind.
