I look at that question simply.

What will happen in a clear majority of situations wherein a woman is pregnant? A child will be born. Therefore, the potential is almost a certainty that that fetus/unborn developing person is endowed at the moment of conception with the unalienable right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and is, ought and should be protected by the most powerful among us and our laws.

The claim that some will be ectopic, miscarried etc. is moot. People die every day from tragic circumstances.

Next argument is in cases of rape or incest- I know it’s a tough emotional, legal and moral battle for a woman/minor child-its near to me personally. What should the nonconsenting victim do? Killing the unborn is not a good answer to me. Innocence is to be valued, not condemned. The sin/crime of the father must not pass onto and cost the innocent, in my opinion.

Abortion for convenience is what is evil.

My husband and I have nine babies in heaven because my body refused to work properly.

So this is a matter of some interest to me.

Reproduction is the most complicated thing the human body does and there is so much that we do not understand.

Should we devote more time and research to it?

Probably.

Will we?

Sadly probably not.

Far to many people who are convinced there are to many people already so why work to birth more?

St. Gianna Beretta Molla would beg to differ.

Humbling.

My wife had a miscarriage, but there is still negative stigma that comes from me saying “we have a baby in heaven now”. I feel that.

What you say is correct. By eliminating the easy choice I hope it awakens minds to deal with complicated pregnancies. I truly think this will work out well.

That “save the life of the mother” is a pretty broad and undefined term — and a back door to infanticide…

“life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” are nowhere mentioned in the Constitution.

The DOI is the founding document, principled in natural rights that apply regardless of any and all other statements.

Also, due process, of course, killing a helpless unborn is easier than justly executing a murdering monster, or, was.

The Declaration states the decision of the Colonies to separate from the Crown, and their reasons for doing so. It doesn’t make Law.

If you want the unborn to be considered full-fledged citizens with all rights to due process, you will need to have that codified into law. Just because we believe something is ‘right’ doesn’t make it the law of the land.
