Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) said last week he would back a law banning the act of sodomy if the U.S. Supreme Court were to overrule a case deeming it unconstitutional.
Paxton said during a Friday interview with NewsNation he would defend the law banning sodomy because the Supreme Court in the past has “stepped into issues that I don’t think there was any constitutional provision dealing with.”
“They were legislative issues,” Paxton said. “This was one of those issues, and there may be more. It would depend on the issue and it would depend on the state law.”
When asked if he would have a personal issue with defending a law banning sodomy, Paxton said he would not.
“My job is to defend state law and I’ll continue to do that, that is my job,” the Texas attorney general said.
The Supreme Court ruled a Texas law banning two persons of the same sex from having sexual intercourse was unconstitutional in Lawrence v. Texas (2003).
The justices said the law violated the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which protects an individual’s right to life and liberty without interference from the government.

How to lose when you’re two cm from winning...
Most folks say the gay marriage bit was the precursor to all this gay nightmare being pumped on kids in school.
But the precurso to gay marriage was the repeal of the sodomy laws that, I think, every state had.
The cry was “what do we care what people do in their bedrooms?”
Now, hopefully, you know why we should care.
I’m quite confident we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
You’re right.
Do I find it personally disgusting, of course. Do I think the Government has any business telling two consenting adults what sex acts they can engage in, in the privacy of their bedroom, absolutely not.
While perhaps sodomy should not be criminalized, sodomites should not enjoy any civil right protections to engage in that activity. Let them do what they want in the privacy of their bedroom and let them suffer the social consequences when it becomes known and is no longer private. No laws against sodomy; no laws protecting it.
Fortunately, laws don’t work that way in the US. Cops don’t bust down doors to make sure you’re not beating your wife.
It is nice, though, when a “teacher” is caught molesting a little boy, or a priest an altar boy, to have SOMETHING to convict them of.
That’s how laws work. We don’t police to make sure they’re followed. We convict violators. Only the perverted Left pretends it’s otherwise when they’re trying to get away with something.
If sodomy is legal then, there is no “rape” basis.
Only forced or non-consensual sodomy but...sodomy is legal.
And, sodomy is not sex, it is an unnatural act, just like destroying your coming generation before it is born.
Anyone else now wondering if Paxton is Deep State..
Why would he even bring this up??? Idiot.
The Repubs seem to have that knack.
what do we care what people do in their bedrooms
Married people? a sodomy law would not allow that, nor for some high school girl giving her boyfriend a bj.
Exactly! If they want to pack fudge they’re going to pack fudge. You’re not going to stop butt “f”ers being butt “f”ers... leave it alone!
You are right about how the laws work. In fact on the recent passage of a recent semi-automatic rifle ban the governors speech mentioned this. “We are giving law enforcement new tools to combat...etc., etc.
Agreed. I for one don’t want to hear details and I think discussions in schools should be centered around diseases, physical complication as a result of and the effect on life expectancy without judgement. It’s church & parental roles to discuss morality and the role of mother & father in the family.
In our zeal to safeguard children from life choices that come with health & life risks it is important to continue to recognize that humans do have free will. Homosexuals should not be treated as second class citizens. Just like any other adult they need to leave their sexual preferences out of the schools and away from the general public.
At this point they have created a strong backlash despite the legal protections and have marginalized their culture, pushing for normalization by flaunting their practices to the revulsion of many.
Individual Liberty is in conflict with sodomy laws.
You are wrong.
Your thinking is the same as if firearms are allowed, we will have killings.
Allowing two consenting adults to do what they want in private is not allowing children to be taught about sex.
Nope. Legalizing sodomy was the starting point to normalize deviant sexual behavior.
Government can’t prohibit someone from “being something” but they can prohibit conduct.
