That’s A Lot Of Paint Members of the fabrication flight’s corrosion control team stand with their newly painted F-16D Fighting Falcon during an unveiling ceremony at the 310th Air Maintenance Unit hanger June 17, 2022, at Luke Air Force Base Phoenix, Arizona. This F-16 was painted in a heritage design as a means of honoring Lt. Col. Gary “Nordo” North’s actions during a routine Operation Southern Watch mission in Iraq and Air Force heritage. The paint job required 1,500 man-hours and over 13 gallons of paint. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Caleb F. Butler)

Happy 75th US Air Force! DAYTON, Ohio -- To honor the past, present and future, the theme for the 75th anniversary is “Innovate, Accelerate, Thrive – The Air Force at 75.” That focus captures a range of activities and observations that will take place throughout the year and highlight the anniversary’s significance. Here a museum visitor reads about history in the 75th Anniversary of the USAF exhibit at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. (U.S. Air Force photo by Ty Greenlees)

The wind is out of the west and blowing smoke from several fires several miles west of Anchorage. The Chugachs are catching it and it’s rolling back over the city. I’m surprised you made it this late in the day without choking on it.
I hope the wind changes direction and blows the smoke somewhere else soon! What a nightmare for y’all.

Hey there, radu!
Did you not get the rain they promised? Bummer! I wondered why it was so hazy in Anchorage. Smoke is nasty.

Howdy, luvie.
No rain was forecast for today other than a remote chance for a pop-up shower here and there. Only a 20% chance for tomorrow and 40% chance Friday through Sunday. All we can do is pray for something to pop up here at some point.
There are a lot of fires west of Anchorage and when the wind blows from that direction, it really mucks up the air over the city. It’s been hazy for a little while now, some days worse than others. Like today. Ugh!

Yeah, I noticed the haze over the mountains, but when I was watching, it was clear as a bell at the lake.
I hope and pray you do get some rain soon. I can truly feel your pain and sadness.

It wasn’t that clear at the lake. If you’d looked back in the stream when the cam was panning around towards the airport, you could see it was hazy everywhere. It’s really nasty now.
If we don’t get rain soon, we’ll look like Anchorage. A few fires have already broken out and burn bans have been issued. Hubby burned that huge pile of tree debris just in time. Thank goodness it FINALLY stopped smoldering.

I hope your temps aren’t ramping back up like ours are. Not as much fun for you and Gizmo when it’s hot.
