A professor at Cornell University says the school’s library has removed a bronzed Gettysburg Address plaque and a bust of President Abraham Lincoln after somebody complained.
“Someone complained, and it was gone,” Cornell professor Randy Wayne (said), referring to a Gettysburg Address plaque and Lincoln bust that had been on display in the Ivy League university’s Kroch Library since 2013.
The professor said that he had noticed that the items were gone after stopping by the library several weeks ago, adding that when he asked the librarians about it, they were unable to give any details, other than saying it was removed as a result of some type of complaint.
“The Gettysburg Address is an incredible speech,” Wayne (said) . “We have a handwritten copy in Lincoln’s hand. It is known as the Bancroft Copy. It comes with an envelope signed by Lincoln (using his franking privilege), and a letter to Bancroft, thanking him for requesting a copy of the address to put in a book to be sold for charity.”
“I show these documents to my class, as well as the heavy iron manacles worn by slaves,” the professor added. “Yes, we have a Lincoln legacy that has been inspirational to me and my students. To take his words (and bust) out of the hallway says something about our love of liberty.”

City of Evil bump
How about the adults tell them to buzz off?
What are the chances they will cave to my list of “complaints”?
Perhaps if Lincoln had not been into racist and inegalitarian sports, or at least not led with a reference to them by beginning
“Four score and seven”.
Obviously one needs to go no further than the first four words of the address to see that the speaker was a racist.
History is so much easier when it can be learned by tweet!
Since Lincoln was apparently an evil white heterosexual racist and everything he did was evil then it is time to revoke his ‘racist’ Emancipation Proclamation.
“Someone complained, and it was gone,”
Insanity.
“Those who forget history...”
Abe just learned the immortal lesson to white people everywhere—no good deed goes unpunished.
There’s also a high fence on an overpass where people would throw themselves into a waterfall drop and die.
True story…
They are saying “Bring back slavery, but make it white peepol this time!”
Absolutely disgusting. Better put the complainers back in chains. They wouldn’t recognize greatness if it slapped them over their empty heads. All they know how to do is mindlessly parrot the fascist libtard instigators.
He’s a Republican, he’s White, he’s Male, he freed the Demonrat-held slaves, he’s gone.
I’m sure a bust of Marx is displayed prominently.
Either that or the white libs are removing all historical evidence that slaves were freed. They seem to think that minorities are lesser than they are. Not a huge step to return to the days of slavery. Their actions always expose their true feelings.
How about we just remove Cornell University instead?
Maybe someday another Republican will come along and free the current Demonrat-held slaves.
Which part of the Constitution gives authority to “complaints”?
How about the adults tell them to buzz off?
The Constitution has limited applicability at Cornell, but I trust you are neither a student, nor a recent alumnus, nor Rip Van Winkle.
Since the takeover of the Strait ended, the rule has been “Inmates run the asylum, adults are allowed to facilitate the inmates.”

How about this one couple of years ago—monument removal. The city of Pittsburgh removed a memorial to their native son, Stephen Foster (the country’s first real songwriter: Old Folks at Home, Suwannee River, Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, Oh Susannah, Hard Times Come Again No More, legendary Americana)— they removed the statue because there was a figure in the statue with a wheat scythe and agrarian overalls on that looked— they said— black. A very dignified and respectful character seated below the figure of Stephen Foster. For that they removed a major figure of American history?? Foster was the original Progressive- as a writer covered the issues of slavery in 1850- selling his portfolio of songs to Mr. Christy (Christy Minstrels) in 1850 for... $25,000.00. And Foster died penniless in a Bellevue, NY hotel.
