The Supreme Court on Monday sided 6-3 with a football coach who was fired for praying on the field after games, marking another win for religious liberty delivered by the conservative-leaning court.
The case surrounds high school football coach Joseph Kennedy and Bremerton School District in the state of Washington. Kennedy, a devout Christian who began working at Bremerton High School in 2008, was fired from his role as varsity assistant coach and as the junior varsity head coach after he refused to quit praying on the 50 yard line in full view of the public following games.
Kennedy asserted that the school district violated the Free Speech and Free Exercise Clauses of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The district also used the First Amendment to justify its argument, claiming that Kennedy’s prayers in view of the public and students following a school-sanctioned event violate the Establishment Clause because his actions could be perceived as a district endorsement of religion.
Justice Neil Gorsuch delivered the majority opinion, ruling that the Bremerton School District violated the Free Exercise Clause and the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment by firing coach Joseph Kennedy for praying after games. Gorsuch further ruled that the district failed to prove that Kennedy violated the Establishment Clause and overruled the “Lemon test,” a measure of government coercion of religion which some justices have previously called outdated and misused.

Great! Perhaps the tide is turning,
I’ve read a lot of stories about heathens complaining about prayer at football games. Maybe this will now shut them up.
Anything even approaching a religious gesture is like kryptonite to liberals in Washington state. It’s literally toxic, like with vampires. They psychologically can’t deal with it.
The 3 dissenters prove their odiousness.
Not a chance. Still, I am thanking God for this victory for His church.
Amen.
They gonna burn cities down for this, too?
...and nobody raised a stink until kids start praying.
That would, in many cases, be an improvement...
3 BIG WINS in 7 days with SCOTUS. I’m starting to forgive them for not accepting the election case..
They gonna burn cities down for this, too?

Of course! Anything the left (democrats/communists) don’t like is license to riot and but. That has served them well since the 1960 and it is a major segment of their playbook. But only when hyped by the media.
There was a major protest in Honolulu AGAINST the vaccine mandate. Well over 1,000 people marched, shouted, bull horns, etc.. Not one news organization covered it.
Told a lot about just how much the Democrats/communist control the media. That is control, not influence.
As the left would say...
THEY SHOULD BE IMPEACHED!
Which is why I call them the enemedia.
You mean three idiots!!!
A lot of the abject SOCIAL CRAP we are dealing with now are the end results of absolutely bad decisions (intentionally made by an activist court of the 60s and 70s)... A constitutional majority court is going to hopefully strike a lot of that crap down
She’s reading the wrong Constitution. The Separation of Church and State is in the Soviet Constitution. It’s not in the US Constitution.
I like to watch my former high school (MN) hockey games online. Every year there are at least a couple of guys that will kneel on the ice and pray after the game. Even better when one or two from the opposing team join them. (Just like in pro sports, most of them have played on the same teams when they were younger, but then moved on to other high schools.)
An individual exercise is far, far different from leading a prayer in the locker room at half time.
Praying at a school event? NO!
Having a disturbed man dressed as a female circus clown in a slinky dress come and read suggestive books to your 1st grader? Well, the school board has no trouble with that at all!
