I’ve seen how the FBI and other law enforcement works in the USA. I’ve seen how politicized the courts are. I do not think that nonviolent resistance is a viable path here. The violent people are walking free. The people who hold “the wrong sign” can be bankrupted and spend a lot of time in jail.

The church heirarchs who complied with the 2020 lockdowns bear considerable responsibility for the decimation of their communities.

"People who have a strong social support network of friends and family are healthier, happier, and enjoy a longer life."

Yes. That is important. God, however, can fill one's life and meet all needs. It is so simple but so many substitute the approval of people for the love and caring from God. God has never let me down. Not ever.

Has this ever happened in a significant nation that has no long historical culture of authoritarianism in the first place?

Oh - there’s only one of those...

Heh, just finished listening to Gonzalo Lira and his experience and observations interacting with AI Replika

Definitely an insidious technology that could lead lonely people towards very bad outcomes

Much “bad stuff” coincidentally came about around the advent of radio. passive consumption of news. Coincided with Walter Lippmann myth of objective press and press as a watchdog.

Many modern truths are false.

This is true: Universal suffrage is a suicide pact. Yet all of the people in government start with universal suffrage as a laudable goal, and from there are working to make it happen.

God largely works through people. Humans are wired to be social, although a few people thrive with minimal contact. Social media is a net harm to society, I think.

I used to play with the primitive AIs you could find on the Internet. Once you get a clue as to what it’s actually doing, you get bored.

I’d rather watch animal videos, if I were lonely or bored. Or talk to actual people, like we do here.

(You ARE all real people...aren’t you?)

Oh yes, indeed we are all real people.
Would you like me to sing you a song that Dr. Chandra taught me, Dave?

“The dividing line between good and evil runs through every heart,” Desmet said paraphrasing Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, a Soviet dissident and Nobel laureate.

I remember reading somewhere, where leftists laughed at and mocked this very idea, that the dividing line between good and evil runs through every heart.

I’m part of the minority of people that are resistant to hypnosis or mind control. It’s scary how easy people are manipulated. Google Asch conformity experiments.

I don’t think conformity, hypnosis and mind control are all the same thing.
