On Thursday morning the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to strike down restrictive "may issue" concealed carry laws in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.
Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the majority opinion and explained how the Second Amendment is not a second-class right.
The arguments made by the dissenting justices were wildly irrelevant from the issue of constitutionality and current law, prompting Justice Samuel Alito to file a separate, concurring opinion destroying their claims. He also took issue with their ignorance and arrogance surrounding the facts of lawful gun ownership vs. criminality. (Take a look, bolding is mine)

Constitutional Carry is the way to go. It sort of speaks for itself.
Where do you look?
Those that have their weapons confiscated because of some perceived red flag are clearly being targeted by government and others without due process. 18 to 21 year old that are subjected to increased and unequal scrutiny via background checks are subjected to unequal treatment under the law. That is clearly unconstitutional.
It seems that additional cases have to make their way to SCOTUS to strike down all background checks. This is due incrementalism, however Alito signals the court will consider the effectiveness of background check laws as it considered the effectiveness of Sullivan.
Yet another case will be required to stop restrictions on the types of weapons owned by citizens. I am not particularly fond of all the time required for this when all gun laws are unconstitutional.
You would think right?!
No, they haven’t read either.
The talking point not too long ago was that the Bill of Rights was “racist”.
I asked someone to point out what was racist about the Bill of Rights, show me from the document what was racist.
They sat there looking blankly and then said “It’s just racist!”
Pleased that the Supremes appear to be returning to a Consitutional Court in their decisions of late.
Because that’s what “they” told us. Kinda like the constitutional abortion right. Because that’s what “they” told us. Hand them a copy of the constitution and have them point it out. I know, waste of valuable time since: “No amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot(s).” Mark Twain.
I remember sitting watching the media parrot the “BoR is raysis” line and wondering just why the hell it was going on because obviously someone somewhere put out the feeler to start that.
I just wonder who, and what they’re doing next.
A real “insurrection” is in progress and the FIB boyz are standing around picking their noses and waiting for a J6er to pop up from under a manhole cover like a prairie dog.
Thanks. The Handmaids Tale memes are flying already.
Oh my, what a good comparison!
Brilliant! But it’s obviously not aimed at the dissenters, as they’re too ideologically broken to entertain a rational argument, let alone come up with one on their own.
They know now is their best chance before the new Justice who can’t define a woman gets sworn in.
Excellent article, especially the quotes from Justice Alito. THIS is how cases should be decided - on the basis of the actual law and relevant facts, NOT on the basis of feelings.
Between this case and the abortion one today, I am experiencing a severe case of scaedenfreud that has almost put me out of commission…almost. :>). Seriously, these 2 decisions are, from the standpoint of how cases should be analyzed and decided, among the best I have seen and especially in such a short period.
Just search the net. Supreme court ruling..... give the info
You vs me or some indication of the case
Perfect meme!
