Mayor Eric Adams led New York’s top elected officials in excoriating the US Supreme Court for overturning a century-old state gun law — warning at a Thursday press conference that “this decision has made every single one of us less safe from gun violence.”

“There is no place in the nation this decision affects as much as New York City,” Adams said in response to the 6-3 ruling, which he added was “just not rooted in reality.”

“The opinion claims to be based on the nation’s historical past, but does not account for the reality of today. It ignores the present and it endangers our future,” he continued.

Democrats are like kindergarteners throwing temper tantrums when they don't get their way. Love to watch their meltdown when their intimidation and tactics don't work. They spew crap like there will be more violence now instead of less. Thank God for our supreme court.

These NYer’s talking like this....do they ever travel via the subway system (in the past three months)? Maybe old NY (1990s) was safe. But I would not suggest that for today.

Gee, I wonder then what the point of the movie Death Wish was if New Yorkers were so safe with their gun control laws?

"Thank God for our supreme court."

The dimocrats will now start a serious effort to pack the court. Perhaps with as many as 15 Judges... :(

Yes, because this ruling will prompt all criminals to seek guns under ‘shall issue’ and all the lawful citizens seeking them will go out and commit crimes.

Liberal logic: Without it we’d have to look to other countries for people to mock.

There will probably be a decrease in crime, as the criminals won’t know now if their victim is carrying. Previously, they were confident they were not.

Maybe Adams needs to watch Death Wish again. Arming citizens will make it safer, though their may be a violent transition period, when bad guys learn the hard way that potential victims may be armed.

Given the current state of crime in the city, how can New Yorkers possibly be less safe?

Fencepost-turtle Eric Adams has an ID card like all retired law enforcement that allows him to carry a concealed firearm in all 50 states and DC.

He wants rules for you but not for him.

https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/federal-ccw-law/leosa-hr-218/

"The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), often referred to as HR 218, allows qualified Law Enforcement officers (LEOs) and qualified retired LEOs (RLEOs) to concealed carry in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws, with some exceptions. It was enacted in 2004 and amended in 2010 and 2013. 18 U.S. Code §§ 926B & 926C Therefore, an individual who qualifies under LEOSA does not need a state-issued concealed carry permit in order to carry a concealed firearm in any state."
