A nuclear scientist from Texas, who's credited with designing sensitive technology found in dozens of laser-guided weapons systems used by the U.S. military, was rescued from war-torn Ukraine.
Members of the non-profit rescue organization, Project DYNAMO extracted John Spor from Russian-occupied territory deep in the country.
Spor, was living in Mariupol, Ukraine, when the city was attacked and occupied by invading Russian forces in February. Following the siege and unrelenting brutal artillery and missile attacks, he fled his home and went into hiding.
Chechen-Russian forces ransacked his home and hunted Spor for months, according to a spokesman for the organization.

“No way did they need this guy to build nukes.”
I agree. Ukraine has its own share of accomplished physicists. I assume he was there because of his laser-guidance expertise.
Russia used to have a lot of nuclear related sites in Ukraine that we would be interested in studying, of course.
Project Dynamo is the same group that has been going into Afghanistan to rescue Americans left behind by Biden.
Just fulfilling the Minsk Accords looks like a pretty damn good deal now.
But they had to take their billions in bribes from Nuland and company.
The Sea of Azov is just gorgeous in the summer.
I’ve got a seaside villa in Mariupol too. Doesn’t everybody?
Totally normal, not suspicious in any way.

There is so much about this war we are never going to know.
Now That was funny!
Still have stranded Americans in Afghanistan tho.
Will rescue when?
Ukraine never owned any nuclear weapons, only hosted them on their territory. Russia inherited all the nuclear weapons in the former Soviets when the breakup took place. This is legally codified in the founding documents of all the former Soviet territories...including Ukraine.
Ukraine never controlled the nuclear weapons on their territory either, they didn't have the nuclear launch codes and didn't have the technical expertise to maintain them independently. The only value to Ukraine would have been to sell the warheads to the highest bidder, which Russia and the other Great Powers wanted to prevent.
The Budapest Memorandum was a diplomatic fig leaf designed in part to prevent Russia from using 'other means' to safe guard the weapons. Both sides have violated its terms by meddling in Ukraine's domestic affairs since then.
“Russia used to have a lot of nuclear related sites in Ukraine that we would be interested in studying, of course.”
The U.S. has had 100% free access to study every inch of every facility in the Ukraine since our 2014 Maidan coup.
What was he doing there NOW? Finishing up his 8-year-studies?
Come on.... please.
The Ukrainians are the ones who are occupiers of the People's Republic of Donbas. But they are being repelled.
There are 7,000 unaccounted for former Soviet Union biological warfare scientists and technicians inthe world as of 2002. That hunt continues because of the possibility they could be hired by various regimes like Iran or Norh Korea, as happened with some Iraqi weapons scientists, who were found working on Libya’s nuclear program. When the USSR collapsed these 7000 lost their jobs and it would not have taken much to hire them.
The Skyy Boy and his coterie will slither away to Old Blighty with the cash, leaving the piles of dead Ukie and dead Russki boys.
I hear the deafening silence of the dogs that aren't barking about this.
I'll ask it again: what was this man doing in Ukraine?
Bkmk
Dirty RuZZian
Glad he's home. But this sentence makes no sense. What's a "nuclear scientist," what are "laser-guided weapons techniques" and why would you want one to work on the other?
For crying out loud.
Odd place for an Oklahoma guy.
