I think Trump was the best president in my lifetime (I’m 68). But I do think DeSantis is a good alternative. In fact, maybe better. Trump has become way too polarizing to the far left. I believe even the legitimate votes Biden got were really just votes against Trump, and the hate was over the top.
One thing Pres Trump has over DeSantis….he doesn’t have to worry about a second term. He can do whatever he wants.
And now he knows the game and the players. Something he didn’t know before.
He can go after them like a pack of wolves. And they can’t do a thing about it.
Can you imagine him on Twitter, just dropping bomb after bomb about all of their sh*t. Something he should/could have done first time around but that’s hindsight.
Because if we make nice the left will not hate America & conservatives.

If you think Trump is polarizing, just wait until DeSantis is the nominee...
Here in FLA, people either love or hate him... and the “hate him” crowd are very loud and vocal.
Good idea to let the far left screen our candidates for us. I'm sure they'll be nice to DeSantis.
I don't really care if you polarizes the far left. The problem is I think he is too polarizing for too many swing voters.
I live near a big city, and have friends/acquaintances everywhere on the political spectrum except the hard left. There are fair number of people, especially educated younger people, who have simply tuned Trump out. They might vote for another Republican, but there are no circumstances under which they'd ever vote for Trump. And that's based on policy - it's based on the various statements he's made over the years they feel are offensive or ignorant.
That isn't fixable with those voters. Their votes may be against their own interests, or even irrational, but that doesn't matter. An irrational vote is counted just the same as a rational vote.
I believe things are going to be bad enough by 2024 that we will have the opportunity for a historic realignment. But to take advantage of that opportunity, we have to have a candidate espousing conservative ideals to whom persuadable people will at least listen with an open mind.
And I don't think that's Trump. It is still possible that he could win by squeaking out of victory with only core support, but I think that is unlikely, and in any case we'll miss the opportunity for realignment.
Trump is the nominee if he runs.
Desantis is smart enough to know this, he won’t run against Trump.
If Trump doesn’t run then I would expect Desantis to make a run and certainly be a contender for the nomination.
However, anyone who thinks the nomination is not Trump’s if he runs has been living in a cave.
