Lithuania has extended the blockade on goods heading for Kaliningrad sanctioned by the EU to also include road transports and not just rail. The U.S. has announced that it is backing Lithuania in its spat with Russia over the blockade.
Quite possible.....they’re begging for it!
Well using Putin logic, Kaliningrad really isn’t part of Russia. They took it after WW2. Well the soviet union took it. So using the same logic they used to invade Ukraine, Russia should give up all claims to Kaliningrad.
$0R0$ ..............................
Can’t wait for the nukes to fly!!!!
.....”Blockades are acts of war”.....
Which is exactly why Putin responded as it did.
“Why do I have the notion that Lithuania is doing as told by the US? Per Neocon warmongers, I’m apparently a Communist…”
Agreed. I cannot imagine Lithuania just woke up one morning and said “How can I move the world five steps closer to WWIII and, as a bonus, get Russia to invade our little country? I have an idea. We’ll break that treaty we have with Russia and close off access to one of Russia’s most important military assets.”
This has to be the result of pressure from the US and England along with promises of military support if Russia goes medieval on them.
It’s looking more and more like the Dems are going to have their war before the midterm.
That’s because you evaluated the risks wrong
see, the risk of this escalating is 0 ... Russia has already got its hands full in the Eastern Ukraine, and has no wish to fight NATO ... despite all the attempts by various Russian trolls here to create a war
“So far, the russians are sticking with their plan. And judging from these provocations, it must be working.”
Yep, Russia knows they’ll achieve their main objective, which is pacify Ukraine, if they stick to the plan. As to this clear provocation by the West, as long as Russia has workarounds, there won’t take the bait to give NATO a pretext to start WW3.
They want war, and they will get it one way or another.
It’s pretty clear globohomo wants WWIII with Russia.
You’re assuming that the Russians are smart and competent political actors. they are no more smart and competent than western government. Less so in fact. which is saying precious little.
Were the leaders of Europe smart and competent in 1913? History suggests that Europe had a political system that was outdated by technology.
This world has similar attributes. Please be careful about what you wish for—based on assumptions you believe to be true.
“I’m not sure, but if a NATO member starts a war, the other members are not obligated to defend it. Blockades are acts of war.”
Lithuania did not do this on its own initiative. It did it after pressure and promises of military support. Lithuania would be insane to do this on its own initiative.
Already US, Brit and German forces up in this Baltic/Poland area.
A “ spat” over cutting off commerce to a million Russians in Kaliningrad ?
Did we have a “spat’’ when Berlin was blockaded?
Russia should give Kaliningrad back to the Germans, who will rename it Königsberg. Or to the Poles, who ruled it for a few centuryes. They would rename it Królewiec. Either would be preferable than Kaliningrad, named for Mikhail Kalinin, a mass-murdering Stalinist thug.
We can’t even get baby formula on the shelves. Are we ready to fight a war?
I think you’re right. Basically the J6 failed. Now the dems believe that only a wider war will save them from political extinction in november. they are willing to destroy america in order to save the democrat party.
“It’s looking more and more like the Dems are going to have their war before the midterm.”
I agree, and I understand why the Democrats feel that starting WW3 may help them in the midterms, so it’s well worth it.
But will they think the same, after 1000 or so nukes go pop? I’m not sure of that. But I’ll give it more thought.
