AUSTIN (KWTX) - Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw on Tuesday told state lawmakers the police response to the massacre at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas on May 24 was an “abject failure.”
McCraw told the state senate that police at the scene had enough officers and firepower to have stopped the gunman three minutes after he entered the building, and they would have found the door to the classroom where he was holed up was unlocked if they had bothered to check it.
McCraw also revealed the husband of slain elementary teacher Eva Mireles, identified as Uvalde CISD Police Officer Ruben Ruiz, tried to save her but officers in the school prevented him from doing so.
McCraw said the teacher called her husband shortly after the gunman attacked her classroom and told him “she had been shot and was dying.”
“(Ruiz) tried to move forward into the hallway,” McCraw said. “He was detained and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene.”
McCraw did not reveal which agency removed Ruiz from school grounds.
The info gets worse and worse!!
Is this the policeman who was in the barber shop in another town and borrowed a rifle?………or was that a border patrol officer?
Unsubstantiated reports of on duty cops getting their own family members out are not a good part of this no good unfolding story. So this account adds more crap to this s show until we know if he was off duty.
How many lives were lost not because the police failed to get into the building and stop the shooter from shooting people, but because they stayed outside for over an hour after the people were shot and simply bled out?
More awful info in this story.
This happens about a week before Trump is to speak in Texas to the NRA and Republicans are caving on Red Flag laws.
This by incompetence or design?
All of them that were present at the time and under Arredondo's authority.
Not gonna say no more. We're surely being watched here.
Pure evil.
Can you imagine going into work with your co-workers having due to their actions allowed your wife to die and not letting you to do anything about it. Not to mention the children they allowed to be killed. How those officers can show up for pay every day now is beyond me.
All involved should be sent a weekly package of pictures of these slain children
All that high speed gear, and yet not one testicle to be found amongst them.
No - the one in the barber shop was a Border Patrol agent, and he borrowed a shotgun from the barber.
Steroids will make them shrink. Lots of cops are steroid abusers. (Hint - look at their necks.)
From what little has been released, most of the casualties. It is rumored that there were few instant or quick kills, with most victims bleeding out instead. Which is what you’d expect with 5.56 hits from an indifferent marksman.
He was not initially on scene and he got a call from his wife that she was hit and in the kill room. He shows up, sees the other cops standing around and follows his training to advance to contact and kill the active shooter. The wife is in the room with the rest of the victims.
His fellow officers stop him at gun point, take his firearm and throw him out.
This isn’t anything like those reports - he was going to rescue everyone in that room (which happened to include his wife) or die trying and they would not let him.
Wasn’t it a double room where he was killing the kids. Thought I saw a schematic of the school. That room had two entrances. What the he’ll were they thinking.
Design. And Cornyn is racing against the clock for the details of this coming out.
Those people were sacrificed. They died to slam home these red flag laws. They will be used to take guns away from anyone with a hangnail.
if i was on a jury and the cop shot everyone that tried to restrain him, i’d set say innocent.
Sent to their prison cell...
