French President Emmanuel Macron’s party lost its parliamentary majority Sunday, as factions to his left and right both made significant gains.
France held the second round of voting for its legislative elections Sunday, nearly two months after voters reelected Macron in April.
Macron, who defeated National Rally candidate Marine Le Pen in a rematch of the 2017 election, won a comfortable 17-point victory – but fell short of the 32-point landslide he enjoyed five years earlier.
In her concession speech, Le Pen claimed that her improved showing in the 2022 election marked a victory for the French nationalist movement, and predicted gains in the June parliamentary election.
The centrist Ensemble list, which includes Macron’s La République En Marche! (LREM) party, remains the largest in the 577-member National Assembly, but lost over 100 seats Sunday, plummeting from 347...

What does “far right” and “far left” mean from the French’s perspective?
I don’t know. Can’t understand their language because of the koooky spelling. But it would seem that they are all nuts.
What it means that France’s Deep State, like ours, is going to very shortly have to decide whether or not to cross the Rubicon.
Deep States can’t keep stealing elections forever.
The “far left” doesn’t even understand the concept of gainful employment at all.
The Macron faction represents what would be called the neoliberal wing of the Uniparty in the U.S. though France doesn’t have a robust opposite to this.
But France does have what could be called the Bernie wing along with the Le Pen wing to deal with and Macron won’t like it.
Get rid of all Uniparties everywhere.
France almost went Commie after WWII.
Macron’s faction is Neoliberal/corporatist economically and authoritarian governmentally.
LOL! Probably highly accurate description..
Apparently the rats will try again and steal the midterm elections and they will be successful. The fix is in already...listen very carefully to what the crooked pollsters are beginning to spew fake poll numbers. THE FIX IS IN! I called it for the presidential election and now I’m calling it for the midterms. But if I’m wrong I’ll be more than happy to eat 100 crows!
No, Macron and center and the center right want to raise the retirement age, increase working hours, etc. His effort to raise the retirement age to 65 from 62 is in fact why he lost his majority. Both the far left and the far right oppose him. The main issue for the far right is outlawing immigration not reducing the size of government.
