Ukraine is closing the book on scores of Russian authors and turning a deaf ear to its foe’s music, too.
The Ukrainian parliament Sunday approved a law that stops the printing of books by Russian citizens unless they give up their Russian passport and become Ukraine citizens. The ban only applies to those authors who held Russian citizenship after the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.

Lol yeah they had a band of vodka too don’t forget the vodka. :-) But on the real side of reality they’re going to lose this war I don’t think they should be provoking directions but you know they do what they want but you always pay the price for what you do that’s one truism in life.
It shows the wound that Putin has created with the Ukrainian people.
But Putin doesn’t care. If he cared about the Ukrainian people he wouldn’t be leveling their cities and driving them all off the land.
That wound isn’t going to heal for many many decades.
Putin now has an starch enemy in Ukraine. All of Europe is leery of Russia. All of Russia’s neighbors should be leery of Russia.
NATO is arming. Finland and Sweden are joining NATO.
Losers.
All to protect democracy no doubt.
Taking a page from their Nazi heritage they are so proud of.
They won’t need to deport. Looks like they will stay where they are and it will be Russia.
Russian propaganda is a disjointed system of dishonest, mind bending poison. The claim about Russian language is false. Ukrainians speak Russian to visitors when necessary, and I’ve seen recent news interviews conducted in Russian. The law about Russian language only refers to specific uses of language, and Ukraine has the right to choose its national language for official uses. In the U.S.A., we did the same until recently.
Russia, as a fascist expansionist (imperialist) dictatorship, has continued to be aligned with other communist/fascist nations against the U.S.A. and our allies. Russia is part of the new axis.
No collection of projections of its evil on its enemies will change that. As the new axis tries to expand by trying to conquer its neighbors, war will come. We can only prepare for defense.
They aren’t banning Tolstoy.
Nor are they banning Ukrainians printing in Russian.
They are banning Russian propaganda.
Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia are also kicking out their Russian citizens/traitors. As well they should.
US needs to do the same with everyone who comes to the USA and doesn’t want to be an American.
If they’re Russian citizens then they need to go to Russia and not act as a pretext for Pidor Putin to invade another country.
“Oh ****, WAR!!!”
The war is coming into it’s fourth month. Telling the citizens of the enemy invader to either renounce their citizenship with the enemy or else leave (which is what’s happening here) is quite normal during a war.
At least Ukraine is giving these folks a chance to leave. Any other country would round them up, deport them, or inter them.
“Idiots. Among the best classics are from Russia.”
Their loss. Like the Nazis banning “regenerate” music, or music associated with Jews - like Mendelssohn.
+1
Are you calling us communist for not promoting German in World War 1 and World War 2?
I mean we lost either way by choosing sides between two evils, one only less so.
No, we won in the long term. KGB Russia is trying to reverse that. Which side are you on?
[At least Ukraine is giving these folks a chance to leave. Any other country would round them up, deport them, or inter them.]
