High Casualties: Russia Pulls Out All the Stops to Find Fresh Troops

The Russian army is suffering high casualties in the war against Ukraine and Vladimir Putin badly needs fresh troops. He wants to avoid a general mobilization, so the military is relying on other methods.

The hidden mobilization has been particularly intense in Buryatia. The army has been using the messenger service Viber to send attractive offers, which include generous salaries, social benefits and a healthy pension – the complete package. "They have called everyone I know: Don’t you want to participate in the special operation?" reports one woman from the region who asked to remain anonymous. "As if it was nothing more than an invitation to the café." There are also reports of army members going door-to-door.

The fear in Buryatia is widespread. Everyone knows about the recruitment effort, but few dare to talk about it openly, and certainly not with journalists. Men from Buryatia tend to avoid complaining, and they certainly don’t do so in public. "Because of their upbringing, they find complaining to be embarrassing," says Andrei Rintshino, a lawyer for the Free Buryatia Foundation. The organization is opposed to the war and supports the rights of ethnic Buryats. They make up roughly 30 percent of the constituent republic’s population and belong to the Mongol peoples. Rintshino says he has primarily been receiving calls from the mothers, wives and sisters of soldiers in their search for advice.

Army officials in the region have thus far had an easy time of it. The republic is one of the poorest areas in Russia and there are hardly any jobs to be had, but it is home to more than two dozen military bases. Both ethnic Buryats and ethnic Russians see the military as a reliable employer.

◽️The offensive in the Severodonetsk direction is successfully developing. The units of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic, with the support of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , liberated the settlement of Metelkino .

◽️ Separate units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are leaving the combat area due to low morale, lack of ammunition and lack of support . So, a platoon of the 1st company of the 1st battalion of the 57th motorized infantry brigade, defending in the Lisichansk region, abandoned heavy weapons and left their positions.

◽️The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to strike at military facilities on the territory of Ukraine.

💥Over the past day , high-precision long-range sea-based missiles “Caliber” at 12.30 hit the command post of Ukrainian troops near the village of Shirokaya Dacha, Dnepropetrovsk region, at a time when a working meeting of the command staff of the operational-strategic group of troops “Alexandria” was held there.

❗️As a result of the strike , more than 50 generals and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed , including the general staff, the command of the Kakhovka group of troops, air assault troops and formations operating in the Nikolaev and Zaporozhye directions.

◽️At 20.20 , high-precision long-range missiles “Caliber” on the territory of a transformer plant in the city of Nikolaev destroyed ten 155-mm M777 howitzers and up to 20 armored combat vehicles supplied by the West to the Kiev regime over the past 10 days.

💥At 19.20, high-precision air-launched missiles hit a train with personnel, weapons and military equipment of the 1st battalion of the 14th separate mechanized brigade , which arrived from the city of Vladimir-Volynsky to the combat zone in the Donbass.

◽️As a result of the strike at the place of unloading the echelon in the area of the railway station Gubinikha, Dnepropetrovsk region , more than 100 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 30 tanks and armored fighting vehicles were destroyed .

◽️At 02.05, in the area of the settlement of Selidovo of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the manpower and military equipment of the 56th motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was defeated . Up to 200 militants were destroyed , including foreign mercenaries who were part of this brigade, as well as two combat vehicles of the Grad multiple launch rocket system, 10 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers.

◽️As part of the counter-battery fight in the Donetsk direction, seven platoons of the Grad MLRS and an artillery platoon in firing positions were defeated .

💥 Operational-tactical and army aviation destroyed four warehouses with rocket and artillery weapons and artillery ammunition in the areas of the settlements of Maksimilyanovka, Avdeevka, Zelenoye Pole and Georgievka of the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as the launcher of the Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system in the Seversk Luhansk People ‘s Republic Republic.

💥 Rocket troops and artillery hit 22 command posts, 48 artillery units in firing positions, manpower and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 123 districts.

◽️The Ukrainian armed forces are suffering significant losses from the counter-battery fight. Thus, a soldier of the 22nd motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was taken prisoner near the village of Peremoga, said that over the past 10 days in the artillery units operating in the Kharkiv direction, the losses amounted to 380 people, including 90 - irretrievable .

💥Over 400 nationalists, 10 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 11 field artillery guns, 11 multiple rocket launchers and 28 special vehicles were destroyed as a result of air strikes, missile forces and artillery during the day .

💥 The Russian Air Defense Forces shot down a Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Chervonnaya Dolina region of the Nikolaev region in a day .

◽️Eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were also shot down in the areas of Zavody, Chervony Shakhtar, Dementievka, Glubokoye in the Kharkiv region, Krinitsa in the Kherson region, Popasnaya in the Luhansk People’s Republic and in the vicinity of Zmeiny Island.

📊 In total , since the beginning of the special military operation , 207 aircraft , 132 helicopters, 1249 unmanned aerial vehicles, 344 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3683 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 562 multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, 2043 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 3715 units of special military vehicles.

❗️ Large losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forcing the Ukrainian command to throw into battle unprepared personnel who lack the necessary skills in handling weapons and military equipment.
