Where is the “but we can tax them to oblivion” exception to the “shall not be infringed” clause of the US Constitution?
I can’t seem to find it.

These people are ignorant lunatics. None of the characteristics mentioned have anything to do with a bullet exiting the barrel.

“The law would not retroactively apply to tens of millions of AR-15s that are estimated to be circulating around the United States.‘
Well that’s a relief. :-)

What part of the word “infringed” do they not get?

I read once the average price of an AR-15 is $1,250.00. 1,250.00 * 1000 = $1,250,000.00. Clearly un-Constitutional.
Wonder how many Cross-the-Aisle RINOs would be onboard with this “compromise”. Someone call Cornyn, Collins, Murkowski, Romney, etc...and ask them.

A thousand dollar weapon will then cost a million.
This tax is prohibitive, punitive, seemingly like a bill of attainder.
I think it violates the Constitution.

RINOs will gladly go along with this. If Republicans every take back the legislature and White Hut they better undo all of this unconstitutional madness. That means repealing gun control laws. But I doubt that will happen because Republicans are pussies and have no clue how to win.

This can't be constitutional, even on non-2A grounds.
Taxes have to be "necessary and proper" to the operation of the federal government. Usury taxes are neither necessary nor proper.
Furthermore, taxes meant to punish are bills of attainder, which are also unconstitutional.

The primary purpose of the AR-15 is to arm the unorganized militia (we the people) in preparation to water the Tree of Liberty.
Democrats (especially the Rat leaders) fear a free and uncontrolled people, more than anything. This November, we will see if the Tree of Liberty needs to be watered. /spit

All of the rhetoric about AR-15s tells me the government KNOWS the people absolutely hate them. They are then very afraid there is going to be a revolution, so they have to figure out a way to keep guns out of the hands of the mob and/or confiscate them and they need to do it quickly. The momentum towards that is really moving fast.
Their concern is very real. They must set up the playing field where the opposition is severly outgunned by the authorities. That is the complete basis for all of this, not random mass shootings.
