A federal waiver that made school breakfasts and lunches free to students regardless of their family’s income is set to expire June 30, eliminating a benefit that has helped millions of schoolchildren at a time when they need it more than ever, anti-hunger advocates say.

The free school meals program began in March 2020 when Congress authorized the U.S. Department of Agriculture to issue dozens of child nutrition waivers, including ones that expanded summer food programs, to provide a lifeline during the pandemic.

I thought Biden was using the school lunch programs to enforce promotion of transgenders?

If it’s up for renewal by all means lets make sure that funds can’t be withheld from schools for political reasons.

Here’s a thought...
How about letting parents be responsible for feeding their own kids?

Good-in real life, there is no free lunch-and what passes for school lunches is crap with little-to-no nutritional value anyway, free or not. Maybe with yet another reason not to send their kid to public school, more moms will see the value of homeschooling their kids-at home, they can have lessons, be taught real academics and fed on family’s time...

I do that intermittent fasting, I usually only eat dinner, it’s not the end of the world.
Serve the poor kids salad. Living where I do, I see lots of welfare kids, and nearly none of them are anything but obese, usually morbidly so.

The only meal we eat at school was lunch. Our parents cooked breakfast for us.

Yeah! what do they do with all the free welfare. Most carts that go though the checkout with that card eat better than I do.

I walked or rode public buses to school and carried a brown bag for 12 years. Some how I survived. I and my fellow school
students HAD PARENTS WHO CARED ABOUT US! God love them!

"How about letting parents be responsible for feeding their own kids?"

What a racist idea. Everyone knows it takes a village to raise a child.

All by design.

The EBT cards of the open border “migrants” will stop working the day after the November elections.

That’s when the real fun begins.

Back in the day, salmon patties were served every Friday in junior high. I was glad dad was too cheap to buy us lunch for 35 cents. (we made too much money to get a free lunch)

Way back in elementary school (1958-1963) our two lunch ladies put out some great chow. Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, beef stew, spaghetti, you name it. Lunch was 25 cents and milk was 3 cents. Seconds were available until it was gone. Great memories.

How about letting parents be responsible for feeding their own kids?

Y'know, there was a time when the GOV would take your kids from you if you couldn't provide/feed them. Now, the GOV rewards you for being unable to meet your responsibilities as a "parent".

Such is the collapse of Our Once Proud Nation.
