The House select committee investigating the Capitol insurrection continued on Thursday, detailing how former President Donald Trump tried to pressure his vice president to join in his scheme to overturn the presidential election — and how Mike Pence’s refusal put his life in danger as rioters called for his hanging on Jan. 6, 2021.
“Mike Pence was 40 feet away from almost certain death,” Michael Medved, host of the Michael Medved Show, said on the Gee and Ursula Show on KIRO Newsradio. “Some of the the videos that they played about people who were very determined to kill Mike Pence, the fact that they now have an individual, a spy basically, who had penetrated the Proud Boys who said, yes, there was definitely a plan to kill Pence or Pelosi.
“I think it’s going to be harder and harder for people to defend what happened on January 6,” Medved continued.
According to witness testimony, Pence himself and the lawyer who concocted the scheme advised Trump directly that the plan was unconstitutional and violated federal law. Committee members argued that this shows Trump’s corrupt intentions and could lay the groundwork for a potential indictment.
“All of this, I think, is decreasing the likelihood that Donald Trump would have some kind of cakewalk to the Republican nomination,” Medved said. “I think it’s going to be a big struggle for him. And of course, like many Americans and many Republicans, I hope for the sake of the country and the party, that he decides not to run.”
Medved stressed the uncertainties the future of the Republican Party may have if the focus remains on the belief that there was fraud in the election process.

While we discuss the hyperbole of this, let’s remember Trump had zero to do with the Proud Boys.
At the urging of Chris Wallace and Joe Biden at a debate (it was Biden who specified the Proud Boys, Trump had no idea who they were) Trump denounced the PB and told them to do nothing, that he wanted peace.
From that and nothing else, the committee decided Trump was responsible for everything the PB did for the next three months.
People talking about the PB and Trump in the same sentence, are insane.
Medved came across as a nice guy on the radio, but reprehensible on open borders.
And he believes in Big Foot.
As well as a nonexistent connection between Trump and the Proud Boys.
What was his explanation?
Medved was allowed to guest host talk shows.
This was the Limbaugh kindness to him that led to his opportunities:

Seems to sway between stances but wrote pretty good books on God affecting US history (as helping George Washington).

How many knew that Medved was still around? Maybe that’s why he decided to say stupid stuff just to get his name in ana article so people would know he was still alive.

He’s never acknowledged it but I think that Medved was one of Dubya’s speechwriters. And like Dubya he managed to fool a lot of people into believing that he was something he wasn’t.
In the 1960s Medved was an antiwar activist with Hanoi sympathies. Then as his former comrades on the Left became hostile to Israel and the Democrats became weak on foreign policy he joined the neocon migration to the GOP during the Reagan years.

I wouold not lump Hugh Hewitt in with Medved. Here’s what Hewitt said:

Also in 1968 Medved campaigned for Democrat Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy and claimed he was at the Ambassador hotel in LA when Kennedy was murdered.

He probably was there. Medved was a Robert Kennedy, Gene McCarthy Democrat. As was Dennis Prager.
Medved was Left of RFK and McCarthy, neither of whom were ever cheerleading for Hanoi. His instincts were always Left, something typical of neocon opportunists who found the GOP’s hard line foreign policy useful for their own purposes.

It was totally forseeable that there was the potential forcsome kind of violence to happen at the rally or afterwards. That’s why Trump never should have held it. All his DC rallies - from the day of his inauguration on - ended in violence triggered by antifa or from the left. He was putting his supporters at risk by holding a huge rally on Jan 6. He was selfish and reckless to hold that rally, and then to encourage people to March to the Capitol. If it was safe, why didn’t Trump and his family also March to the Capitol?
