Friday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” pollster Frank Luntz issued a stark warning over the upcoming July 4 weekend.
According to Luntz, “we are 13 days away from an absolute explosion on inflation” because people are going to realize just how expensive groceries and gas have become.

..because people are going to realize just how expensive groceries and gas have become.”
Don’t have to wait 13 days. $2 for a small can of Pinto Beans is a very clear indication that we have already crossed the rubicon.
Inflation is already a wallet buster. Just got back from Dollar General where I only needed a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. $9.53
A recession is nearly guaranteed simply because well over 75% of people believe it is coming.
I had a craving for Popeye's chicken last week, hadn't been there for a couple years. Sticker shock, 8 pieces cost $25 including tax, and the chicken was small and had little meat. Twice the cost for half the quantity compared to before. And they aren't the only business downsizing items while increasing the sticker price. Looks like I won't be getting Popeye's chicken any more.
Yeah.
Cuz...
I only buy gas and food on July 4th.
SMH.
Do these people even think? Is logic a forgotten, hidden commodity?
How could any pollster have any valid predictions/data like: ‘We Are 13 Days Away from an Absolute Explosion on Inflation’!
His theory is that people buy more gas and food for the 4th of July than they usually do. I think he’s wrong — everybody already knows what’s going on — but don’t see much point in insulting him.
TIL that ~80% of Freepers can’t be bothered to read the title, let alone the article. on != of
According to Luntz, bringing up Grooming is DIVISIVE, and therefore should be avoided by Republican candidates, should they want to GOP funding.
(if he’s not saying the above publicly, he’s very likely saying it privately)
Isn’t July 13th a full moon?
Well yes!
July’s full Buck Moon will rise on Wednesday, July 13, reaching peak illumination at 2:38 P.M. Eastern Time.
I actually wonder about one thing.
What are the usual time lags for various categories as to pricing?
Through the decades when oil prices went down they would say “but you won’t see that savings at the pump. That gas was refined and transported long ago.” But upswing in gas prices could be seen about eight hours later at the gas station if oil went up.
So clothes, electronic items, wood and paint for houses and so on-——when will last month’s inflation pressures hit those and other things?
I have read about half of the posts. Most are derogatory and ad hominem about the messenger but most of the people posting don’t care to talk about the message. It is very sensible. July is the end of a fiscal year and the start of another. Many reports will come out. People will be wanting to enjoy a long weekend but they won’t be able to go camping and will have to cut back on charcoal and steaks. They will drink lots of beer and talk to each other. This kind of talking is different from tweeting and posting on the internet. It can’t be censored. Rebellions start in small groups.
These folks explained it to him.
Kev’s roommate.
Drop in GDP two successive quarters defines a recession... I’m betting you’re right.
