State Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing backlash after he told a conservative radio host that “God has a plan” for the third and fourth graders gunned down last month at an elementary school in Uvalde.
In a May 29 interview with conservative host Trey Graham, published just five days after an 18-year-old shooter massacred 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary school, he said that it was “difficult to give comfort” to the families of the victims.
“If I lost one of my children I’d be pretty devastated, especially in a way that is so senseless and seemingly has no purpose,” Paxton said. “I would just have to say, if I had the opportunity to talk to the people I’d have to say, look, there’s always a plan. I believe God always has a plan. Life is short no matter what it is. And certainly, we’re not going to make sense of, you know, a young child being shot and killed way before their life expectancy.”

true.
Only atheist and demoniacs would be backlashing.

Indeed, He does.
Not that we can see, but He does.
backlashing all over. Followed by insincere apologies that are never accepted. Clown World.
He’s right. And all the unborn slain in abortion will be right there with them.
I can’t imagine they’ll be at all happy.
Revelation 19:14
Paxton might try Luke 13:4 instead.
God gave us free will. That applies to both the good and the evil. To say God had a plan for the evil that did that would be the same as claiming God had a plan for the holocaust. Christians should learn to keep their mouths shut at times. Their ignorance can become irreparable
That’s a culturally acceptable statement to a certain segment of the population. To the rest it sounds fatuous. Pretty much anything you could say would sound, at the very least, trite. A politician has to get votes from a plurality so he must make statements that are widely understood. I think it was GW Bush who described the war in Iraq as “a new crusade.” Damn. What a culturally poor choice. It caused an unnecessary firestorm that required a huge effort to overcome. (Especially when there’s an element who wants a firestorm.) A boss told me after something I had done blew up, “I can make this go away but I sure wish I didn’t have to make that effort as it takes away from other things I have to do.” The same thing is true here. No matter how much an individual sees his words as okay, he needs to consider how they are viewed by the wider world if he needs the support of the wider world to do his job.
All we have is today and that is how we should live each day to please ourselves. We die we rot. G-d is a silly myth invented by ignorant savages and kept alive by greedy power hungry priests and nobles. Is how one high school teacher put it.
No backlash from anyone that matters.
This is correct. Paxton is a Republican. The communists were going to “backlash” him no matter. Just carry on, Mr. Paxton...
I would imagine a substantial number of Texas voters might disagree. It’s not going to help him come November.
God gave us free will. That is what killed those children. If they under the age of accountability or knew Jesus, they are in a good place, but I really doubt this was God’s plan.
Well it’s like with your kids. I don’t have a plan for them to do bad, but if bad happens, I always have a plan to help them get through the bad or mitigate the bad.
It wasn’t God’s plan, but it all does fit into God’s plan.
God could have snapped His fingers and Satan would have
simply vanished.
And then forever, some would serve God out of fear, and they
and others would wonder why he had to be so severe in His
judgement.
Sin has to play out folks. You can’t sanitize it. Every
aspect of it has to be on display. No matter how debased
it is, humanity and anyone else out there needs to see
what sin leads to.
Deviation from God’s path, is simply sin, and we’re seeing
sin in it’s true treacherous form.
It gets worse for a little while longer...
This is where our faith comes in.
What did have to say about the child abuse going on with children being taken to strip shows and the kids putting dollars bills down the straps of the thongs? Where is his criminal investigation of that behavior?
I’m sure his intent was good but come on. I highly doubt that’s what the families needed to hear right now. As AG he should have been talking about what he was doing to correct the errors in this shooting and helping to prevent another one.

Agreed. Assuming that God has a plan for something, it would probably be something we could not comprehend - this is like the religious people who tried to speak for God before Job. God finally said that the religious people weren’t speaking about him truthfully, and he said they should repent of their presumption. That’s also like talking to someone about all of the “good” things that could come from a tragedy he experienced - it might or might not be technically true but it isn’t helpful at all.
