A month after the end of the siege at Mariupol’s Azovstal steelworks, which marked the Russian capture of the coastal city, life continues without access to basic amenities. Those who were left behind are largely cut off from the outside world with limited mobile phone and internet connection.
“It was worse than hell there. There are no words to describe it,” said 55-year-old Vladimir Korchma, who had lived all of his life in Mariupol where he worked as a machinist at a local factory.
“We had no gas or electricity. Only the lucky ones had water,” said Korchma, who left the city at the end of May.

Oh, the humanity!

Hell actually has very good internet, but the only sites available are Facebook and TikTok.
Damn...life without cat videos...
And it took over 45 minutes to get a delivery from Uber Eats!
“It was worse than hell there. There are no words to describe it,” said 55-year-old Vladimir Korchma”
Good to see that freedom of speech has been restored in Mariupol, now that the Russians are running the city.
I guess the Ukes shouldn’t have went out of their way to pick a fight with RuZZia! LMFAO. If only they had the fat Uke Col. Vindman as their defense minister.
Will this mean less crybaby Uke propaganda on FR?
The title is misleading. The Azov/UFA occupation and the fighting were “hell” for those who didn’t or weren’t able to leave for the east or the west early. The Russians are rebuilding infrastructure, and the vast majority of those who couldn’t get out before the fighting started are glad the Azovs are gone. If The Guardian says otherwise it is simply lying or hugely misinformed.
I didn’t know Uder eats was so slow. What about Door Dash? ;-)
I guess the ill contented could always flee to The Ukraine, that bastion of FReedom.
When was the author in hell to make the comparison?
That’s what happens when cities are turned into battlefields. Because of Zelensky’s orders of no retreat no surrender, thus making cities battlefields, they were shelled heavily. In WW2 the mayors of Paris and Rome declared the cities open and free of defensive forces to spare themselves the destruction. Urban warfare is the most destructive with the highest civilian death rate historically. You get the battle your willing to fight.
“Worse than Hell”...
Uhh...no.
LOL
I'm not sure if you're just dumb or lying, since Russia has laws on the book suppressing free speech. There are people currently facing 15 years in jail for criticizing the war, or even calling it a war.
He’s no longer there. His freedom of speech occurred elsewhere
Worse than Hell? How about those endless lock-downs in China, where people are reduced to screaming out their windows at night when they cannot be seen?
Hey, nice to see FR now has full fledged Nazis posting on the forum. Here's one laughing about a city that has lost at least 22,000 people, has been completely decimated, no running water, bodies rotting in the street, and survivors describing the city and the government as "5 times worse than the Soviet Union."
The little rodent even took the time to claim that Ukraine "started the war" somehow. By existing??
