This qualifies as a political earthquake. In a special primary election to fill out the term of former rep. Filemon Vela, who resigned his House seat in March, GOP candidate Mayra Flores received 50.98% of the vote, making a runoff election unnecessary. Rep.-elect Flores will represent the Texas 34 Congressional District that runs along the Gulf Coast to the Mexican border, and which is 84.54% Hispanic.
Hispanic voters are dumping the Democrats, a trend that has the potential to doom the party at a national level.
🚨BREAKING🚨
The first Mexican-born woman ever elected to Congress is REPUBLICAN @MayraFlores2022 who ran on a pro-borders, pro-patriotism, pro-God, and pro-family platform.
How's THAT for narrative-busting?
The Hispanic shift is real and we're just getting started. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/XxkwFBF8ME — Giancarlo Sopo (@GiancarloSopo) June 15, 2022
This historic win will bring back God to the halls of Congress! This win is for the people who were ignored for so long! This is a message that the establishment will no longer be tolerated! We have officially started the red wave!! #TX34

Will district lines be different in the general in November?
Do I perceive a hint of gerrymandering there?
Excellent news.
And people, especially the media, think Beto Boy has a chance. Get outta here.......
Fat Slob vs Not Guilty!
“The first Mexican-born woman ever elected to Congress is REPUBLICAN”
I cannot help but wonder how much coverage this “First” will get on ABCNNBCBS & MSNBC and the printed media.
And never forget the first black US Senator was also a Republican
If you don’t vote Democrat, you’re not a true Latinx!
What an eye test election.
Year Office Result
2012 President Obama 61 - 38%
2016 President Clinton 59 - 37%
2020 President Biden 51 - 47%

Is it really an earthquake given POTUS election results in the district? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas%27s_34th_congressional_district
“Tough pick.”
I know one thing, she will be the best looking one there.
She is most pleasurable to gaze upon.
another white hispanic white supremacist
Yes, about 10% more Dem. However, in the demographics, the thing is 12% white, 2.5% non hispanic people of colour, and 84% urban vs. 14% rural.
If I were a Dem, that last stat would also be concerning.
5 sensate seats. No less. Only then it’s an earthquake. We may have to vote for the democrat in the Nancy Mace election to get our point across. Perhaps a couple more too. Don’t play that game in the senate even if Lisa’s on the ballot.
it’s still a solid realignment but a win in the general will be shockinger than this win...
Encouraging for sure but are there enough walk away Hispanics to counter the Librat Gringos who moved in from states they already ruined?
You’re not going to find many “librat Gringos” in this district. They tend to colonize the cities.
She won only by 7.5, so how the new lines look will be very important. She will be up against an incumbent who had part of his district drawn into this one. At the moment, I’d say TCTC.
