WARREN, MI -- Police say a Warren man in his 30s lost both his arms Saturday after a bomb he was handling inside his garage detonated unexpectedly. According to The Detroit News, the homeowner -- who has not been publicly identified -- was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The explosion occurred around 3:10 p.m. at a home located on Gentner Street near 8 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. Police say the man was under investigation prior to the explosion and a search warrant was conducted after the blast.
As part of the investigation into the explosion, police found several other bombs at the man’s house along with several different guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The investigation is ongoing.
That’s my first thought.
Nigel, you bad punster you!
From the article...
“....Police say the man was under investigation prior to the explosion and a search warrant was conducted after the blast...”</i>
Adding a little bit of water to a strong acid is NOT the right order.
-- My take on this is simple - if you've never taken a college-level lab course in organic chemistry, just don't. --
That's sound advice.
Actually it is right by Detroit proper, the legendary “8 Mile Road.”
You’d need a decent Army tank to go though there, Ann Arbor is a good distance away. Ironically there are remnants of the Warren Tank Plant still there that helped the US in WWII.
From Michigan and no name given.
A bomb.
Tells me all I need to know.
Now that’s funny.
If he survives his injuries he may face trial, but the jury will no doubt make note of his disarming personality and demeanor.
The story, told by my dad’s family, had the youngest brother who was kind of sciencey, experimenting with making nitroglycerin in the basement which resulted in burning down the house. He always denied it, but his brothers said that is what he was up to. Uncle Speck lived to be 100 with all his limbs intact.
Michael Liburdi.
Well that’s gonna leave him scratching his head over why it detonated.
Or not.
So much left out.... handling a bomb in his garage?! What, it’s sounds as if he was just cleaning the blades on his lawnmower... I mean, everyone builds bombs in their garage right?! Also note no ethnicity is stated. Hmm.... only one conclusion to draw from that!
Premature jihadulation?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
....Somebody set up us the bomb!
What is it? One end of the 8 mile is known as the red zone and the other as the war zone?
My sister in law lives just north of the 8 mile in Ferndale.
Her son is a police officer in St Clare Shores.
i didnt know he made it
i held out the possibility he was a collector of war items and it was a live bomb he thought was defused
the part posted here didnt say he made it
“Also note no ethnicity is stated. Hmm.... only one conclusion to draw from that!”
Which is?
“Dont know enough to know how to feel about this”
Really? A person making bombs in his garage in Detroit? Not enough info to determine if that’s a bad thing?
Let’s not be judgmental until we get all the facts, OK. LOL
Muslim....
Muslim isn’t an ethnicity and I refer you to post 51.
