Pelican State ping
Good
Next, all the other states should do the same thing.
then they need to repeal the gas tax and toll charges because that is supposedly what gas taxes and tolls are for
It’s only for EVs and Hybrids. They can actually tell when you register.
good on them
level the playing field
“It’s time to close the gas tax loophole!”, which is what it is.
Next, full size bicycles.
They have FREE stations in our town...How fair is that??
So it has to do with taxes. I assumed it was because those people are annoying sanctimonious dumb asses.
pay for the roads or gtf OFF!!
LOL
Contrast that with the tax in all the gallons of gas the equivalent ICE car consumes, it's still chump change. Of course, there's a tax on power, though (in Alabama it's 4%) that you'll buy more of charging an EV at home. But then at the same time a lot of power companies charge a lower power fee for charging an EV (Alabama Power charges 1.7155 cents less per kWh if you charge an EV after peak hours). That discounted rate, by the way, is for all power consumed during the hours of 9 PM to 5 AM (even power used to heat your home).
With all of that just in taxes, the $100 annual EV fee is a drop in the bucket.
A certain percentage of fuel taxes are for road maintenance and improvements, at least that’s how it’s supposed to work. EVs cause wear and tear on the roadways like any other vehicle. So yeah, people who own “pollution free” smugmobiles shouldn’t be so PRIVILEDGED and pay their share of road use taxes.
sanctimonious dumb asses should pay a premium tax.
They should be taxed to subsidize the rest of us who cant afford those cars the wealthy drive and to pay for oou7r gas...
Freeloaders 🤪
A few years ago I was hauling gravel in and dirt out of a city water treatment expansion project. While driving past the city employees parking lot beside their building, I noticed one employee had his Tesla plugged into an outdoor outlet.
I thought maybe the employee had just needed a boost that day. But I was on that job 3 or 4 days, and the car was plugged in every day.
