"I am thankful that I met Jason as a result of our church's stand during COVID lockdowns"
Pastor Tim Stephens of Fairview Baptist Church has preached at the funeral of one of Calgary's police officers a year after he was arrested for conducting worship services in violation of Alberta's health orders.
Police arrested Pastor Stephens at his home last June and offered him bail on the condition that he abide by all public health orders.
Pastor Stephens refused to agree to the stipulated conditions, as doing so would prevent him from caring for the church that has been entrusted to him, his wife Raquel said at the time.
During the ordeal, Pastor Stephens met the officer whose funeral he preached at last week.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Pastor Stephens said:
"It was an honor to preach the gospel at the funeral of one of Calgary's police officers who began attending our church last year. It was his request to have me preach the gospel to hundreds of officers at his funeral," he said...

Reminds me of a story from the Amish “Der Martyrspeigel” (Martyr’s Mirror) of an Amishman who was being pursued across a frozen lake by a bounty hunter.
The ice cracked, the bounty hunter fell in.
The Amishman rescued him and was taken into custody and executed.
“God is wondrous in His saints...”
Did the Police Officer die of a blood clot? Heart Problems?
Too Soon?
It’s not clear to me from reading the story but one does wonder what you wonder.
At least we can say that the Higher Power was around for this officer’s earthly demise.
Well, we know for certain he wan’t killed with a gun.
Now thatโs a pastor.
Aye, Joseph sold in slavery to the Egyptians....
Since they were chained to him they could not run away. :)
After everything the police did to the citizens, I’m not sure if I could do that even knowing God demands it.
The Philipian jailer?
But when he was in Rome he had a guard chained to him at all times.
Never do that to a preacher unless you want your guards converted.
They must have thought he was a dangerous criminal. Well, he was dangerous, to evil. ๐๐
There was a man — not a minister, nor even a Christian — who memorized an entire repertoire of revivalist sermons, then advertised about, and went around the country holding “revival meetings” where he’d preach these pilfered sermons he’d memorized, pocket the contents of the offering, and move on to the next fleecing.
Eventually, he preached in front of someone who’d actually heard the original, and was exposed as a money-grubbing fraud. Tried, convicted, and imprisoned with nothing to do but languish and listen to all those memorized revivalist sermons echoing through his head, one day those words he’d merely memorized, suddenly took on meaning, import, and saving effectiveness, and the old charlatan was radically converted on the power of his borrowed preaching.
This feel good story does not change the fact that all police muat be assumed to be the enemy and acting to enforce leftist democrat party dictate.
One must follow one’s conscience and one’s Higher Authority if the police say otherwise.
But I have to believe that my Higher Power wants to reach those police and use me to do so.
