TODAY: Primary in Alaska

Posted on 06/11/2022 5:41:02 AM PDT by cotton1706

Go vote!

Primary for special election to replace Congressman Don Young, who died.

TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Politics/Elections; US: Alaska
KEYWORDS: ak; alaska; elections
Trump has endorsed Sarah Palin.

Don't be fooled by Nick Begich. He's the grandson of the Democrat congressman who Don Young took the seat from in 1973 (the elder Begich disappeared in a plane crash). And his uncle is former Democrat US Senator Mark Begich (2009-2015). So even if he is a Republican, he'll get whispers in his ear from his Democrat family.

How is Palin looking?

I mean voter-wise, we know she's still attractive.

#1: "the elder Begich disappeared in a plane crash"

Would that be the same plane in which Cokie Roberts's father Hale Boggs disappeared? I think it was.

“Would that be the same plane in which Cokie Roberts’s father Hale Boggs disappeared? I think it was.”

Yes. Just checked the dates for the two and they’re the same.

Interesting. I didn’t know Boggs was the Majority Leader of the House. That must’ve been something.

Boggs would likely have been House Speaker instead of Tip O’Neill had he lived, to succeed Carl Albert.

“So even if [Begich] is a Republican, he’ll get whispers in his ear from his Democrat family.”

You simply can’t trust politicians like that, right?

BTW, Jared and Ivanka say “hi”.

Might as well accept the fact that BOTH Palin and Begich are going to advance from today’s primary, as is liberal Democrat “Independent” Al Gross along with some no-chance 4th place candidate.

Then in the special election where Rigged Choice Voting (RCV) applies, Begich and Palin will split the Republican vote.

It all will come down to the #2 choice of either the Begich or Palin voters — will Begich voters put Palin as #2 (and vice-versa) or will spite prevent them from doing so? If that is the case, then congratulations Alaska — your new Congressman is an ultra-liberal Democrat, and the Democrats & RINOs who adore RCV will be so delighted that they won’t be able to contain themselves.

There is an interesting podcast about the plane’s disappearance called “Missing in Alaska”. Here’s an article about the podcast and some interesting connections (mob?) that turned up. I listened to the podcast a good while ago - worth the time.

Just wondering how many incumbents who lose their primaries, abandon all semblance of conservatism, and vote with democrats between their primaries and November?

P.S. Don’t vote for James Langford in the upcoming Oklahoma primary; he’s an avowed nevertrumper and closet democrat.

The slaughter of RINOs in the 2022 Republican primaries is going fantastically well!

Not.

The answer to your question is, so far: 1.

That was David McKinley in West Virginia, and McKinley is basically a Democrat already. He lost to another Republican incumbent who is more conservative. So that was a good outcome, and we may see two more eventually in South Carolina + Cheney in Wyoming.

If Mary Miller can beat Rodney Davis in Illinois that would be fantastic (although it COULD happen, don’t hold your breath).

Trump hater Jamie Herrera-Beutler might lose in Washington, which would also be great.

There are several squishes in the Florida delegation, but they’ll probably all win their primaries in August.

We’ve done better in the area of eliminating RINOs, with cowards like Kinzinger and Upton who have chosen to quit rather than fight and lose.

She will not win. Conservative Alaskans have no use for her. Been in Alaska for 41 years. Watch and see.

I voted for Begich. Gladly.
I know people that have vetted him. Yeah, the name is a hindrance, but he’s the only one with sense in that family it seems. He can change their family trajectory is a positive way.
As far as Trumps endorsements? We all know he has picked some real shit-stains in the past and currently. I put no stock in what Trump or any other person tells me who I should vote for.

Voting ended at 8pm, which is 9pm Pacific time

All paper ballots, absentee.
Small towns finished yesterday ... wonder if they started counting earlier today
