Police shot and killed a man who was purportedly "aggressively" trying to enter an elementary school in eastern Alabama.
The incident came just two weeks after 21 people — 19 students and two teachers — were murdered in Uvalde, Texas, when a teenage gunman entered an elementary school and went on a shooting rampage.
What happened? Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton said that a man, identified as 32-year-old Robert Tyler White, arrived at Walnut Park Elementary in Gadsden, Alabama, around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to Gadsden City Schools superintendent Tony Reddick, White "aggressively" attempted to enter the school, checking several doors to see if they were unlocked. His suspicious activity prompted a lockdown. Several dozen students were at the school at the time.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in statement that White then attempted to enter a vehicle belonging to the school resource officer, which triggered an altercation with the officer. At some point, White allegedly attempted to take the officer's weapon.

Race not listed so I presume he’s a “special interest group” member that was bullied because of his LGBTQ + “status”
Maybe an aspiring rapper just getting ready for University of Alabama.
One of these things is not like the other. I wonder what that might be? Oh yeah, the school was LOCKED.
Maybe All schools need a burglar alarm and door contacts so if the doors open that an alarm goes off! Wow that was that won’t cause billions of dollars I will be turned down
In the morning and afternoon when the masses are coming and going...a guard at the entrance/exit doors.
After that.......lock it down!!
Our city schools have metal detectors because those kids like knives!!
“White allegedly attempted to take the officer’s weapon.”
That is generally a bad idea. It is probably the #1 trigger for police racism.
I guess the door-propper part of the operation didn’t get the latest email.
Neutralized. 😂👍
Locked, and the cop wasn't a coward.
Just my Monday morning quarterback opinion.
Officer weapon retention issues seem to be happening more often today. Maybe a result of hiring practices, lack of training, size, strength, experience of the officer, etc.
If an officer is present, there is a gun at the scene.
Holster technology has advanced to the point that additional retention devices hardly hinder a fast presentation.

As I was researching content for this article, I reflected on the academy and in-service training I have had on gun retention. A small percentage of it was based on the premise that someone was going to saunter up to an officer and reach for his or her gun. After reading reports and statistics, I reinforced my theory that this premise was wrong. Most of them were engagements in progress or disengagements. That is, the officer and suspect were already fighting, and the suspect went for the gun.
Based on the numbers, I sought input from experts.
1. Learn to fight on the ground
Going to the ground is not the most desirable outcome, but most experts will tell you that ground-fighting training is a necessary evil.
Fighting on the ground and fighting on the ground with a gun are two different things. When looking for instructors, talk to them about protecting the gun.
The instructors do not need to be LE officers. In fact, I have yet to meet a competent Brazilian JuJitsu (BJJ) instructor who couldn’t teach an officer how to dominate the ground. The important thing is to spend sufficient time on the mats.
It seems like the responding agencies are always trying to figure out motives. I’ll do the report: “He was a nut. Now he is not.” I’ll have the report ready in the morning.

Yep.
Well, now I see the problem there:
The Police Department is NOT WOKE!
The Rainbow PO POs are all white men!!!
Crackers....

Well look at that. A gun used by a good guy stopped a potential massacre.
Interesting. Could be antifa.
Who would have thot that door locks and controls around their use actually works to deter intruders.
Level 3 retention holsters are a great help.
Not perfect but far better then the single thumb break or single strap holsters.
