An Asian American journalist who previously worked at Kansas-based Fox 4 (WDAF-TV) is reportedly suing the station’s parent company over her former news director’s alleged refusal to promote her for being the “wrong minority.”
Megan Murphy, better known as Megan Dillard, started working for Fox 4 in 2014 under a three-year contract, according to the suit. In 2017, she signed a new three-year deal when the station promoted her to news anchor.
In 2019, Murphy expressed interest in the lead evening anchor position when the journalist occupying the role, an African American woman only identified in the suit as “D.R.,” announced her departure. However, Sean McNamara, who became news director in December of the same year, allegedly refused to consider Murphy for the job.
The lawsuit, according to KCUR, alleged that McNamara denied Murphy the opportunity because “she was not Black/African American, which Defendant considered to be the ‘right’ minority.” The position reportedly remained open until August 2020 when the station hired Christel Bell, who is African American.

She looks white not Asian, which might be the real problem for her.
Tricia Takanawa looks pretty caucasiany
This country is supposed to emphasize the importance of individual rights.
But we’ve given up on that. Now group rights are all that matters, and if you are not in the right group, you are out of luck.
What an idiot manager
Sounds like somebody hands out dough to these companies for promoting the minority de jour.
My dad lives in a predominantly (for now) white area of the north east. All the local news channels have at least one black anchor. He commented that they musta went out of their way to get them moved in. Not saying anything nefarious is going on; I would expect the most qualified to be hired. However, i do sense a separate but equal issue is happening. That is,, pass over all whites and get the best from the rest. Like those firefighters years ago. I think it was connecticut where all the top white candidates were pushed aside to get minorities promoted.
She’s simply not black enough to pass the racist qualifications 🤪
Next question
Well even if she was black but a conservative she would not have got the job.
A few evenings back I watched a segment on national news where the top ranked California Highway Patrol officer was being interviewed ... a black female. My comment to my wife ... how many black females are in the rank & file of the CHP? Probably less than 2% ... but somehow, she is propelled to the top ... total BS.

How dare you question whether Megan Murphy is Asian!
She’s Whasian
What is she, .1% Asian? She does NOT have the “Asian” look at all...
After blacks, Asians vote Democrat more than any other “minority” constituency.
Not much demand for an Asian host when Asian adults are working or studying instead of wasting their lives away watching television.
She looks latin not asian.
Who did you vote for Megan?
Would she have gotten the job if she identified as “black”?
The outside edges of the whites of her eyes look photo-shopped to black. That would tend to give her a NON-asian look, her eyes NOT kissing in the corners. I suppose she’s thinking a Caucasian look on her promo shot is better for her than an Asian look, but good luck with that ... she’s way behind the times.
