Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Charles Grassley of Iowa released a series of documents on Wednesday showing that the Biden administration’s Disinformation Governance Board was intended to have a domestic focus, despite promises from administration officials.
Top Biden administration officials, most notably Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, repeatedly claimed that the board would focus on disinformation pushed by foreign actors. However, the documents released by Hawley and Grassley reveal that the board intended to target alleged disinformation by topic, not by national origin. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “paused” the board in May before it began operations, although it has the option to bring it back.
The leaked documents show that the Biden administration expressed particular concern about “conspiracy theories about the validity and security of elections,” “disinformation related to the origins and effects of COVID-19 vaccines or the efficacy of masks,” and “falsehoods surrounding U.S. government immigration policy.” Notably, the document listing the topics of concern does not stress the sources of the alleged disinformation, only that the issues “must not be politicized.”

That’s a really good starter list to investigate disinformation. But the targets of the investigation are off by 180 degrees. It is the government spewing out the lies with the help of the MSM.
Now tell us something the Brandon Administration DIDN’T lie about.
(((crickets))) - will get no coverage.
“GOP Senators Release Documents Showing Biden Admin Lied About Disinfo Board”
...and yet we’re supposed to believe what these a-holes are telling us about Ukraine. Go figure.
Everything is political. Every decision whether made in government, church or family is made by who has authority, ability or influence to drive the decision. Politics is good or bad depending on the tactics used. In general, when truth is sacrificed for political aims it's always bad.
If you want to eliminate concerns "about the validity and security of elections", then do audits and increase transparency and security of the elections. Make everything from control checklists and signoffs, to chain of custody documents, to individual machine counts at various times of day, to videos of drop boxes, to controls to keep voter registrations clean, public. Make it all transparent. And enact good controls like voter ID. Do operational and forensic audits before and after elections. And repeat periodically.
The way to combat "disinformation related to the origins and effects of COVID-19 vaccines or the efficacy of masks" is not to censure, but to make information public. I doubt we will ever get to the truth about the origins of COVID-19. Funding virus research in enemy countries was as stupid as it gets, regardless of whether that was at fault. p>The criticisms of the COVID-19 vaccines need to be addressed not hushed. We need answers to why therapeutics were dismissed. And we need to split authority over therapeutics from the authority over vaccines and authority over studies. A lot of the disinformation was an exercise in bad statistics. But medical authorities just ignore it, much like the birth certificate. They should take the false claims and make apples to apples comparisons showing the real risks and benefits of the vaccines. And they should improve the reporting systems and be transparent.
The mask controversy was not helped by the government lying to us in the beginning and telling us masks were dangerous because they were caught not having replenished PPE stocks after the Obama years and bird flu. But there are studies out there showing that masks do help even though they are not 100% effective. And those studies should be listed alongside studies that claim they aren't effective at all, and compared. It's not that hard.
And the main problem with immigration is not disinformation, it's that the Biden administration is refusing to enforce the laws that they are sworn to uphold. If they want to change the laws, they need to go through Congress and let our representatives have their say. And they need to uphold the laws until and unless Congress changes them. There is really no excuse for this.
Yes Dear. We know they lie.
What are we going to do about it?
And when isn’t Biden lying? Every word that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Nothing will be done about it as usual. This country is in sad shape.

Duh. To what end? /s
“Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Charles Grassley of Iowa...”
OK. So where’n Hell’s the GOP LEADERSHIP on this?
Good that Grassley’s in the vanguard, here, but...
Hello, Mitch, you awake?
This is CLASSIC Establishment GOP dropping the ball by on-purpose NOT joining the charge.
Dems do stuff, and ALL of them are IN.
The GOP is a moribund, fractured, self-castrating parliament of dunces.
