Greg Norman has revealed that Tiger Woods has turned down a figure just short of $1 billion to join his Saudi-backed golf tour.
One of the most divisive episodes in the history of the sport took a dramatic turn on Monday when it was confirmed that Phil Mickleson had signed up to be the poster boy of Norman's revolution. The six-time major champion will now play in the tour's inaugural event at The Centurion Club at St Albans this week.
It will be his first event since announcing an indefinite break from the sport in January, following comments where he described the state of Saudi Arabia as 'scary motherf*****s'. That was despite initially accusing the PGA Tour of 'obnoxious greed'.
As a result, he missed the US Masters and last month's US PGA, despite being defending champion. And now, the American accepting a deal to join the rebel circuit represents a seismic capture for Norman.
However, the Australian has admitted he failed in a bid to attract the most marketable golfer in the history of the sport. The career of Woods, 46, appeared in jeopardy following his high-speed car crash in February, but he remarkably returned to play at Augusta in April.
And his global appeal was still evident, with his comeback signified by a mass frenzy of interest and support. He further defied doubters by entering the second major of the year at Southern Hills, but was in clear physical difficulty and withdrew after three rounds.

If you play golf in Saudi Arabia, how bad are the sand traps?
Tiger’s career is effectively over, he apparently doesn’t need money and is interested in preserving his PGA legacy, which puts him 2nd in major wins behind Jack Nicklaus, where he will remain.
At some point you just have to ask yourself, “Do I really need another billion dollars?”
He doesn’t need money - just a chauffeur and a few blond super models.
In Saudi Arabia the whole course is sand. You want to stay out of the grass traps.

Only one event is played in Saudi Arabia.
Woods will make $5 billion staying on the PGA Tour and collecting endorsements the rest of his life.
His wife was a supermodel and he cheated on her with Waffle House poon…
In fact, the third event this year is being played at a Trump course. That should drive the libs even more bananas.

If you could use it solely to thwart and piss off democrats, I would gladly take every penny. How ‘bout a new bus line from the inner city to a shiny new wal mart right in the middle of Marthas vinyard? or bus every illegal immigrant and homeless and pay legal bills, food, booze to repeatedly destroy walls and squat on democats property?
The PGA Tour has granted exemptions to play in a tournament in Saudi Arabia as recently as February 2022.
Saudis are snakes
they treat women like crap, they treat their foreign workers (who do everything) like crap, they were involved heavily in 911 and went to great lengths to stop the 9-11 commission, that innocent guy went into their embassy a few years ago and got killed inside, etc.
yeah we need them as a counter to Iran but still, what freaking snakes
glad Tiger said no
Yeah lol he needs multiple women not just one... he he he
Actually, since he really can't play competitively, he's probably down to 25 mil/year and declining. Since he turned pro in 1996, the 15-time major winner has earned $1.7 billion from endorsements, appearances, course design fees and other off-the-course endeavors. TaylorMade and Woods released their first co-created set of irons in 2019.

That’s great news but l bet no TV coverage.
Yes. You always need another billion. Heck. I need another 100 bicks.
They used to refer to that as Target golf. Small patches of grass fairways surrounded by sand. They actually built one in Easter Washington, but it proved too tough, so they re-made it into a regular golf course.
