CASPER, Wyoming – A slew of campaign billboards along the highways of Casper reminds voters in the state's second-largest city of the bitter political war ahead: Rep. Liz Cheney's fight to keep her seat and thwart former President Donald Trump's target on her.

The August 16 Republican primary is still two months out, but Wyoming is already gearing up to become a battleground between far-right MAGA adherents and establishment Republicans.

"You've got those that want to take a very hard stance to the right, and those that are more moderate and want to be more inclusive, the Big Tent Republicans, and now you're seeing that competition rear its ugly head," Troy Thompson, a veterinarian, and Laramie County commissioner who's politically active, told Insider.

I live in central NY State, and after 40+ years, changed my Republican registration to No Party, early last year. Lizzie must be pretty desperate, because she send me a letter begging me for money. She calls herself an "unapologetic Conservative, who fights for all Republicans."

I typed up a full-page response, and sent it back in her pre-paid postage envelope included. She'll probably never see it, but it sure felt good writing it, and licking that envelope.

Why didn’t Trump and local supporters in WY run a ballot initiative last year, to close the Wyoming primaries so Democrats couldn’t vote in GOP primaries and vice versa?

I guess for the same reason Trump didn’t have a list prepared of loyal people to appoint and hit the ground running when he took office in 2017. He’s not good at strategic planning.

She forced herself out of the Republican Party when she joined the Democrats and voted to impeach President Trump based on a false narrative provided by the Democrats.

Her own state party rightfully threw her out of the party.
